it took me a while to figure out "what it's all about"..to really get it..but when i did..i quit that job..just up and quit..fedex'd them back their laptop and phone so they could "plug" someone else into place..everybody should be able to experience this once in their lifetime..so liberating and i haven't looked back..once you get it..the money means nothing..

Been thinking of doing just this lately. I left patient care to chase the government money and it's left me unfulfilled. I now help doctor's offices maximize profits through Meaningful Use measurements and while quite lucrative, I don't believe in it. I want something I can do while biking cross country. The older I get the less materialistic I become, but I'm getting really selfish about my time.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I have my resignation letter ready to send, I just need some guts to do it. There is no longer a stigma related to living off the gov tit, I may just get "disabled". If you can't beat em, join em.

Might be moving to Montana soon. Gonna be a dental floss tycoon.

it was THE single best thing i ever did..i've had (and still do) houses..big houses..trips..recognition..money..clothes and all sorts of bags, jewelry..Louis Vuitton and Tiffany's..but i was dead inside..i still remember sending my resignation email..i hit the send button and never looked back..immediately threw all their POS and other shit away..the reason i was able to do it was because of a story my dentist told me about a couple who were "fed up" and both high earners..they quit and went out to colorado and became park rangers making $30-40k..and they were happy..it's like you say the older you get you are less materialistic..money and things don't mean a whole bunch..quality of life does.

now i get up every morning and i don't dread the day..i look forward to the "little" things in life..i can't impress upon you enough, the difference in quality of life..it's like a miracle..it took about 30 days for the "quota nightmares" to stop and anxiety level to drop.

let me know when you send that letter in..we'll celebrate!
