Can you use a MH 400w bulb with the ballast I will get with my 400w HPS
or do I need a switchable ballast

Most will tell you Yes but you should not, I have been using 400W MH lMP in 400W hps ballast For 3+ years no problems YET!

I cant seem to find any conversion bulbs in the UK

It says this bulb can be used on HPS control gear.

might have to find a usa seller that ships to uk.
