Ballast or Bulb problems? WTF

I have a 1000w digital greenhouse ballast. I use a growbright 1000w hps bulb and it works great. However, whenever i put the growbright Metal Halide 1000w bulb in the socket and turn it on, it ignites and then stops and the bulb is then trash. I've tried another one, same thing happens. So i tried an AgroMax 1000w MH bulb. Same thing. Is something wrong with my ballast? it works fine with my HPS 1000w please help!! i'm getting sick of going to the store to replace bulbs. all i want is for a 1000w MH to just WORK.

sounds like you have a HPS setup and cant use a MH bulb in it.

I agree with Jesus (HAY-soos). Check the ballast and make sure it's capable of powering a metal halide lamp.

Yea if not you need a conversion bulb..your going threw 1000w bulbs like that? how much each costing you?
