Ballast On Floor

Is it okay to put your ballast on the floor? I have a small grow box, and the only place that I can put the ballast is on the floor next to the grow bags. But I've heard that you shouldn't put it on the floor, so now I'm wondering, is this safe?

i dont think it should mater where you put it as long as its wired right it should be ok.

Can't you at least put it on top of a milk crate so if you have any water issues the ballast will not get wet. That could get really ugly..

Can't you put it ouside the room? They do make extension cables that run from the hood to the ballast

i would at least set it on a book aor a milk crate like just mentioned. and unless you have low temp issues i would keep it out of the room, it will get hot.

I may have to put it outside of the cab. It came with a really long cord. I just wanted everything to be self-contained, nothing external. I'll try the book idea as well. It's my first time growing with this box, so I'm not sure how it'll handle the heat from it.

i had my ballast in my old grow room for 4 harvest without a problem just make sure the water doesent get to it you will be fine

i have mine next to my tent sitting on bricks, they usually dont have fans or anything so the more airflow around it the better
