Ballast: is it necessary?

Hey, I"m working on my first indoor grow and am using 100w equiv cfls and was wondering if I need a ballast. I was planning on having a power strip and then having an extension cord w/ a converter to change from power cord prongs to a bulb socket. Would this work? Thanks

the ballast is built into the CFL.

oh Sweet! Because I was just looking at my lamp and thinking why dont i need a ballast for this one. Thanks man
