Bad time to plant in FLA?

I have to wait until the 1st week of June to plant a few here in Central Florida. I was wondering if that is a bad idea.

When does it become a bad idea to start a batch to FL?

yea all you have to know is when days and nights turn to 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness (12/12). i know where i live its in september. if yours is the same you will have 3 months to veg before ur herbs will flower. happy growing!

I just checked the photoperiod for central florida (about 28 deg Lat) http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/RefMedia.aspx?refid=701500905&artrefid=761563211&sec=-1&pn=1

So according to the table....it looks like you can plant almost anytime. Some of the best weed on earth comes from the equator (12/12 all year around Jamica!!!!!) But May would be the optimum time for an outdoor planting. I am going to veg inside for the month of Aug and transplant in Sept When 12/12 starts in Central Fl and see what happens. Let me know how it goes. Are you planting Sativa or Indica?

It'll more than likely frost around December in Central FL which could kill your plants. Hell, it snowed here one year on Christmas morning [1995'ish?]. Seriously don't expect to be able to grow well during the winter - unless you use auto-flowering strains and miss the cold snaps. But who knows - maybe we'll get lucky with a mild, mild winter.

Oh and of course hurricane season is still going - watch that your plants are planted in as flood-proof an area as possible.

yea I do agree about the forst thing....but think about it. Sept, Oct, Nov that is 16+ weeks of flowering time. Then veg some plants inside from dec-jan and transplant in Feb. However my buddy went through flowering and then it revegatated starting in mid april. But hey if you had a quick 8 week indica it might be good for a quick turn around. We just use out outdoor plants for hash and baking. So best quality smoke is not the most important.

Yeah I'm putting a small batch out still this year - just germinated them starting a few days ago actually. I'm hoping for good luck with the weather, although I have low expectations on yield even if the weather cooperates.
