Bad batch ocean forest

It’s basically ruined an entire crop. I always mix it 50/50 with promix for many years and never any issues. This last few bags has devastated my crop. Many months in the same pots and only fed straight water due to the ocean forest being so messed up. Usually by now my plants would be extremely deficient or maybe dead without adding frets but they just keep burning and burning and exhibiting very strange symptoms. The two plants that went just in promix are doing amazing. A friend is going through same issue with ocean forest he bought after me and from a different store. Not a grower error. Where the hell is quality control?!!? Threw two away already and I noticed the roots just didn’t even want to take in it. The soil is such shit that the root development is the most pathetic I’ve ever seen. The plants in just promix I slid out of pots and nice root growth as the rest should be. I must stress I use the same soil recipe for over 5 years. 50/50 promix and ocean forest with some Dolomite lime blended in. Ridiculous that ocean forest watered down with promix continues to devastate okder mature plants for months.

Could be how that distributor stores them. I went by a local hydro shop that had pallets of Fox Farm bags sitting outside, next to a weed infested open field.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. When you opened the bags, did the soil give you any clues that it might be compromised?

I haven't used Ocean or Happy to grow but I decided to try it out this time and bought a few bags of Ocean and Happy. OF was very dry while HF was quite wet so I blended the two together. After planting, watered with Recharge & molasses.

This should get me by the next 2-3 weeks before additional nutrients will be needed. I sent off samples of soil for testing and am waiting for results to see what the soil profile looks like before I top dress.

Everything looked good to me and smelled normal. I’ve always loved ocean forest but this last round really hurt me. Currently in just promix with some lime and epsoma plant tone added in. Top dressed with some castings and plants are loving life and it’s back to the good days for me. I might not go back to the ocean forest though it really is a great soil. It just really had a negative effect on me
