Seriously, a taste of hell. It was good to learn the terrible things I've seen, but if I could repeat the time, I'd have never done it. Mushrooms are excellent to get a glimpse, but I'd recommend no more than once a month with lots of preparation. Outdoors is usually a good setting, but be safe; no cliffs or water to drown in, if you wait til dark, keep your fire small and made of twigs. You won't want to move for several hours, so bring water and orange juice (reason for oj). Try to not trip indoors as memories can affect and take control of your inner adventure. Day tripping is good, but you'll delve deeper into your own mind in the dark. Just keep everything neutral and happy; bad trips are just as enlightening, but can crush your spirit and take months to recover from. You can find the good in life, or how bad you really are inside. Tripping is like being a bright eyed child exposed to the truths, righteousness, and wrong doings of the world with no parental protection. You expose yourself naked to the world, and learn things you never consciously thought of.
good luck!
I'm TORN between saying, shit, this guys knows, and saying, shit, this guy MISSED it.
Set and Setting are the core, but mind-set is years in the making. And FILLED with contradictory viewpoint, compartmentalized hidden memories, and buried connections you never wanted to think about. If you've lived a live of pain and suffering, tripping will probably not be a good idea for you. But if you are ready to look hard at your life and make decisions to move forward, tripping can be a hell of a tool.
Any of the "majors" (LSD, Mescaline, Psilocybin, DMT (this is the list for me, I assume there are more, ignoring the gabillion RC chems)) are capable of putting you into that head space. And none of them are directly deadly, so people can play HARD, without physical fear.
The freezer fairy just showed up. She defrosted the freezer. Fuck. a QP of shrooms. Yes, I lost them in there. And an ounce of pins. holy shit, I'm gonna try the pins tomorrow.
So anyway, to OP: Do NOT take it to heart when one individual has bad things to say about a particular hallucinogen. No matter how smart they are. Do more research.
Also, that bullshit about not wanting to be indoors because it trigger bad memories. WTF? What if it triggers good memories? What if it is nice and comfy and it is storming outside?
Sure, outdoor trips can be awesome, love camping trips, but they are not a requirement.
I love my home, I love my people around me, I'm happy to kick back for 1/2 a day on the 3rd floor while the house is filled with people.
Tripping is the most individualistic experience you can ever have. No matter what level of connection you experience, the ability to convey that to someone not there is non-existent. This is your journey to follow, no one else's.
Review what makes you feel good, and then use the chemical to enhance that direction. Plan. You will be very distracted for the duration, possibly incoherent. Have a sitter, a good friend, someone who understands the situation and acts as a buffer between you and the world. Someone you trust.
Enjoy. Explore.
