Autoflower seed light cycle flexibility

Hey all,
not sure if this is the right forum for this question but it seemed close enough. I'm planning on picking up some autoflower seeds pretty soon, and at the moment I'm designing my grow cab and considering if I should include a seedling chamber but I've read a few places that the light cycle is flexible. THIS is where I was wondering flexible in what respect?

Can anyone tell me if and why you do an 18/6 cycle? I know that it flowers regardless of light cycle, but won't it get greater plant growth with a longer light cycle? Or do people just straight up 12/12 it from germ to harvest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Peace.

set at one light cycle and leave it either 18/6 or 20/4 works fine 12/ 12 no good will reduce your yield / 24/0 no good plant needs some down time to rest and grow in dark plants are light mongers more light more yield also likes root stimulator hates transplants and full nutes will show sex in third week done between 8 and 10 but go by trichs

good luck
