What's up fellow growers, I just recently decided to do my first autoflower grow. This grow will take place in my closet using three "68 watt CFL, 2700k / Equivalent to 300 watt," all together I will be growing 2 different autoflower strains with a total of 6 seeds. All seeds are feminized, 3 seeds per strain. I bought them from Attitude & they are the cheapest autoflower (f) 3packs you can buy at the moment, thanks to Sweet Seeds for giving us a sweet deal! I notice there are not many review on these two auto flower strains on RIU or the net so if any of you are interested please subscribe. For all you Autoflower Haters, don't hate, participate! I have a tent full of "regular plants" just like you guys do, I'm using autoflowers only because I am getting very impatient & tired of buying from dealer when I have them growing at home!

On Deck:

(3) Sweet Seed: Big Devil (fem)

Cost : $34.99 per 3 (f) seeds
Sex : Feminized
Type : Runderalis, Indica / Sativa, Mostly indica
Flowering : Autoflowering
Flowering Time : Medium
Outdoor Harvest : September
Height : Medium, Tall
THC Level : 18%
Characteristics : Fruity Skunk *
Sweet Seeds Big Devil is a feminized automatic strain of high stature, Sweet Seeds selected this particular one which can reach a 1 to 1.5m, in order to answer our customers demand for a higher automatic strain. Big Devil lives up to the name with good large production of compact and resinous buds. The taste is a fine mixture of Skunk with a fruity taste.* It takes Big Devil's cannabis seeds 6 weeeks to flower.
Sweet Seeds themselves label this as the biggest autoflowering strain on the market!
(3) Sweet Seed: Fast Bud (fem)

Cost : $22.82 per 3 (f) seeds
Sex : Feminized
Type : Runderalis, Indica / Sativa
Flowering : Autoflowering
Flowering Time : Medium
Outdoor Harvest : September
Height : Medium
THC Level : 16%
Characteristics : Hints of diesel *
Sweet Seeds Fast Bud has excellent production with large thick buds that are covered with aromatic resin.* Fast Bud is fairly short and cannabis seeds can reach heights of 40cm to 90 cm if given room. The effect is of a strong high but has a wonderful sweet taste with exotic undertones coming from Diesel’s inheritance.
Sweet Seeds themselves label this as the fastest autoflowering strain on the market!

I have germinated all 6 autoflower seeds using the shot glass method for 24 hours covering shot glass placed next to DVR for warmth reasons. All three of the Fast Bud seeds cracked in 24 hours, the Big Devils did not all crack completly but I decided to go ahead & plant them into peat pellits anyway. I placed them into my peat pellit dome overnight with 1 CFL on them & within 24 hours they are all showing signs of life, 100% germ'd once again. Just last night I noticed the roots are already popping threw the peat bags so I moved them into 16oz red cups with FoxFarm Light Warrior. As expected since most of the Big Devils did not completly crack there are two seedlings that still have seed casing on top of them, I'm going to let the fall off on there own. That's just about all I have to at the moment but keep checking back for recent updates & pictures, I plan to take alot! P'z Homies...

First off I want to thank both of you for visiting my thread, also welcome to RIU lennycolas! I've been working with these plants the past 4 days from germination, I took a few pictures each day that I will post below. Please excuse the quality of the photos, I used a iPhone to take them. Once all these babies go into flowering stages I'll start using the other 3 megapixel camera that I have.

pic 1: This picture was taken a little over a day after they were put into the ground, I placed them all in the 16oz cups right before I took this photo. If you are wondering which plants are which I have them all labeled. All of the Big Devils are at the bottom of the picture, they are labeled BD3 - BD1 - BD2 & at the top of the photo are all the Fast Buds and the are labeled FB3 - FB1 - FB2. This means that BD1 & FB1 are the biggest of the strain, BD2 & FB2 are the middle sized plant, and last but least BD3 & BD3 are the smallest plant.

pic 2: This is just a shot of my closet setup for the moment, nothing special just yet.

pic 3: Gives you a idea of how close my bulbs are to the plants & what size they are.

pic 4: Another shot of the closet setup, its a little bigger of a picture then picture 2.

pic 5: This picture was taken on day 3 of sprout, not much progress made but they are growing. The plant seating areas are labeled the same as picture one, the tallest of both strains are placed in the middle to prevent them from growing into the light and burning them.

pic 6 & 7: I took this photo around 3:30pm today, as you can see BD2 & BD3 still have the seed casing on the leafs still. They are starting to look a lot looser then they were the other day, soon time for them to drop.

pic 8: Just a few minutes ago I decided to carefully give my Big Devils a little help with the seed casing, both came off quite easily.

For the next week I will be giving these babies 24/7 light with 2 CFL seen in the pictures, I will be watering every other day with a spray bottle. I won't start using nutes till about week 3, I don't want to burn them. I'll post my nute methods of feeding when it is time too, until then keep an eye out for updates. Once they start flowering I'll give them all names, check back later. P'z...

Being that this will be my first closet grow ever I would really appreciate some suggestions on how to properly setup my closet for a veg / autoflower room. I have shelfs already installed into it that are adjustable, my closet doors are double fold up style doors. When closed a good bit of light comes out of the cracks of the doors, I'm thinking of buying some Velcro to place around the door frame & get maybe a sheet of Mylar and make a Velcro Mylar curtain. I plan to split it down the middle so I can walk into the closet with ease & at the same time have Mylar reflecting light back onto plants when the door is closed & also keep the light inside the closet. I would hate for my babies to hermie out, when should I start worrying about light seeking threw anyway, I'm thinking maybe around the time the start showing sex? Here is a picture of my closet with the lights on & door close, kind of a bad picture but just to give you an idea of how much light leaks out.

My real concern is my ventilation inside of the closet, especially when the doors are closed. My CFL lights really don't put off much heat but when running 3 68 watt CFL it can get hot at times, especially where I live in the summer time. This is the only thing that I have setup at the moment to help my seedlings mature for the next few weeks, I'm going to have to hook up a exhaust later on in the grow. Any ideas or maybe pictures of your closet exhaust would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of the general setup of my closet racks, the bottom rack has about 3 feet of space to the floor. I really need to clean up the closet a picture more before I can take pictures of the complete closet, also I have a bunch of paint cans on the floor. Should I take those out of the closet, will they affect my plants?

Oh and if you decide to go with a box kinda like mine you might want to even make a couple of them? I dont think 1 would fit 6 plants? even autoflower?

I'm no expert. But I have a few humble suggestions/comments.

You don't have to worry about your plants turning hermie because light leaks won't affect autos. We are talking about autos, right? If so, you can pretty much go 24 hours of lighting with autos, although I read that 20 hours of light is the suggested number. But either way, yeah, autos don't depend on light/dark when they flower, so those cracks in the doors won't affect their sex.

The hanging mylar is a good idea just to keep light in and more light is always good, especially with CFLs. In fact, my humble suggestion would be to hang the mylar against those shelves. See that last picture that you submitted?? Maybe hang the mylar against those two rods....keep the light confined to just the shelves--even more light for your plants.

In any case, good luck.

That is the only fan that I have at the moment but I plan to get more if I build you box idea, this is being used basically for the germ stage for now. I also have a extra 6 inch inline booster fan that I could use for the box if I do build one. I actually have a temperature/humidity gauge that I use in my GrowLab, I placed it in the closet for overnight to see what the min/max temps get up/down too. I'll post the temps tomorrow, they seem to be staying around 81.9% & the himidity at 47.

To bigv1976, I am currently keeping my 2 CFL's on for 24/7 for the first week or so. Once they get a little oldier I'll probably switch them over to 20 on /4 off, I'm also planning to add a extra CFL setup when I do so. As far as trying out the BD, they are fairly cheap seeds with 18% THC + they only take 8 weeks from seed to GROW!

Yeah I figured that would be your light schedule but I am wondering if an auto will do well or at least decent in a 12/12 room.

I would imagine that they would grow, the buds might not weight as much compared to a 20/4 schedule. What kind of light are you planning to use, if you are using a HPS it might be worth trying atleast one seed 12/12. I was actually cosidering trying that because I have a 4x4x6.5 tent running a 600w HPS light running 12/12 at the moment.

I have a 400 hps. It may sound small but it works for me with the 12/12 from seed. I put my biggest plants under the light and seedlings around the outside so they dont burn. Thats a current plant at about 3 1/2 weeks in my avatar.

I'm still not quite sure how you can hermie a plant, I know it is possible. I'm still a bit in disbelief that light during dark time won't herm a plant, sorry no offense. I like the Mylar idea for the shelfs & the 2 rods. If I don't build a custom autoflower grow box I'll use the idea for sure. Thanks for your suggestions & sorry for the late response, I'm on a iPhone right now, it's 3am & I'm baked & drunk on crown. This thread is blowing up faster then I can read / reply, thanks guys for all the support and I'll have new pictures for you all as soon ad I notice a drastic change. For now I'm about to goto bed, I'll catch yall tomorrow.
