You'll be fine to do that. Most experience burns because when the wee little plant gets its first set of leaves they wanna dump everything the grow shop sells at it. Plant the seed, keep it moist, don't feed for 3 to 4 weeks if that, let the plant tell you.

Do I need to germinate seed first in paper towel or just drop in soil

I did an auto with straight frog once, it did have some minor burn but nothing that would stunt the seedling, you can try doing as creature said and start them off in a more mild soil, just make a layer fog on bottom and some lighter soil on top of that

I put the seeds into a glass of water until they show a 1/2 tap root. Start them with biobizz light mix or fox farm light warrior in a solo cup. Transplant at 7 days, or when the leaves are the same diameter as the cup. Then put them into FFOF. Mix a little Bio Root with the water and make paste with the soil. Not too wet.

Haha...thanks MATTY MATT726. Starting seedlings is one thing I'm pretty good at...and there aren't many :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:
I rey to always link your transplant thread and even bumped it not that long ago, just so these guys can see your transplant work. Too many misconceptions. That thread and Buzdbuddah's in General about growing in FFOF should be stickies.

It could work. I think it's strain and genetic dependent though. I have an auto going that I started off in happy frog, and I almost wanna chuck it and start over. On week 7.. little late in the game for that now. I'm going to ride it out and see what it produces. I did transplant into FFOF though after the 16oz cup.
I did plant clones of the auto in FFOF straight. Not even extra perlite. Just testing the strain out without wasting seeds basically. It's my way of learning how it feeds. Full doses of nutes aren't working for it. The cuts I took from it look better than the plant itself. I'm just documenting the feeds, and conditions are the same.

Good luck with the grow.

I used to use seed starting mix and would have minor issues. I got curious and went straight FFOF and never had a problem with burns or anything. Zero issues. Works just fine for me. Countless strains of regs and fems. Not an auto person so I can’t speak for them but I would imagine they’d be fine too. Not sure why others have issues with fox farms. Maybe FFOF has inconsistent/hot batches? Idk. I’ll keep doing it this way and readjust if any issues come up.

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is not how they used to be....more bark then soil anymore. Too hot and damn near $45 a 1.5 cu ft bag.

Roots Organics Soil seems to drain better. Has nutrients already in it as well. Not as hot as FFOF and costs about $15 USD cheaper per 1.5 cu ft bag.
