Auto Seedlings - need advice

Hi Guys,
I have not had good luck with a few seeds, and am new to the forum and back to the drawing board.

I am an outdoor grower in the Southern Hemisphere and we have just cracked into Autumn.

I have 2 seedlings that have popped in their final pot, around 1 month and 3 weeks, and they really have just not taken off, so I need to change what I'm doing to not waste seeds. They are barely an inch - just too much rain and humidity. Planted at the very end of summer/start of autumn just didn't seem to do them any favours.

So this time I am thinking of changing it up by raising seeds in smaller cups and transplanting to the final pot.

I know people say not to transplant autos, But I just feel I'm going to get better root development and control over a seedling in a cup (easy to move around for maximum sun also).

Last time I used nutes (few pinches of crushed dynmamic lifter) and a small amount of lime in the base and Vermuculite. Not a good idea, I think I burned them and I've learned on here that Vermuculite retains water and is not really ideal for a mix?

So before I plant again, I'd like to get some feedback on the following:

Soil Mix I will use - 1/3 Perlite/ 1/3 Nute Free soil mix (probably a general plant mix) and 1/3 Peat Moss.
Seeds - Dinafem Moby Dick X 2 - 75 day from seed to bud
Starting Container - Styrofoam cup X 2, outer of inner cup will be cut in half (ready to transplant when at size), outer to keep inner cup intact. Lots of drainage holes.
Temperature - AVG will be 65 F, with a minimum of 50 and a top of 80F. As it is autumn, it will be on the warmer sides for the next month, with temps unlikely to go below 55 - Towards the end of the grow, they will drop to around 60F Avg with tops of 70F, but lows will go to around 50 F .

Any advice greatly appreciated.

My advice, 30% perlite, 30% coco and 40% organic soil. No Styrofoam cup, plastic Dixie style cup. Plastic isn't the best either but Styrofoam breaks down easier. 50 F is to low, keep them inside at night till it gets warmer. Cold weather will stunt them bad, if not kill them. Rain and cold weather is probably why your seedlings have never taken off.

While my seeds are germinating in a nice warm, moist paper towel, tucked inside a ziploc, I fill my 5 gal. airpot w/ equal parts FFHappyFrog, FFLightWarrior and perlite. Water that w/6.5 Ph tapwater 'til runoff. Now because I don't like to transplant, I bury a jumbo ice cream cone filled with my moist soil mix in my airpot, and place my germinated seed in the cone. I was using jiffy pots but were not biodegrading to my liking. Good luck.
