Had this running through my head. Autos run 80days max. Most non noob growers know soil and what to purchase fox/roots or they make thier own. Such mediums have plenty of food and nutrients in them to last a good amount of time. So my question is.. why would you force feed autos when the new bag of fox should supplement a plant such as an auto? Seems to be a waste. Almost like vitamins for humans. Just because you intake a ton of pills, doesn't mean you absorb it all.

fox is to rich to start a seedling in most of the time
its not force feeding its " supplementing " for what ever stage the plant is in your really only going to get dialed in conditions if your using some kind of tea or nutes
soil gets used up and if our pushing the plant on lets say 24/0 hps the whole time then its going to be screaming for a feeding around the pre bloom stretch if not sooner

I've gone quite a few weeks without adding nutes to my Plagron Grow soil but there comes a time when you need to feed. I've been using Canna Nutrients for awhile now and they work great. I have some leftover Fox a Farms nutes that I'm going to try and use up on my next run. I'm kind of anxious to see whether CannaNutrients or Fox Farm will give me the best end product.

i guess there is two ways to grow...

1) plant it.. let it grow... harvest...see what it gives you

B) plant it.... push it to it's limit.....harvest.... max out your plant's production...

since i am growing it in controlled conditions... i'm gunna turn that control to 11 not just sit there and see what it wants to put out

and what tek said... i have my autos under 24/0.. cannabis is a plant that exchanges CO2 during light periods rather then dark like most plants ... since autos need no light change you get 30% more running your autos at 24/0... and you don't get 30% extra w/out extra nutes

Soo what's the point of spending top dollar on soil if you just going to "supplement" 10-14 days into the grow?

i use a coco based blend that i mix myself
1-2 handfuls of worm castings and just run with it
and feed them when they look hungry

i mix/recycle my own soil.. it's a fraction of the price and you know exctly what you are getting because you put it in there

when plants do the majority of carbon/ air intake depends on the species as dictated by the environment. Most plants do this whenever including during the day, while plant species adapted to hot and/or dry environments tend to open their stomata at night such as all CAM plants but sufficiently adapted C3's will also do GE at night too. C4 (like corn) plants need the heat from sunlight to fix carbon efficiently so they do GE during the day. Cannabis does it whenever it feels.

If you are forced to get Fox Farms over priced soil then try to start the seeds out in LIGHT WARRIOR(their version of a seed starter mix), not happy frog or ocean forest. I constantly see problems with new growers using Ocean Forest and starting seeds. (too hot for seedlings)

Start to finish autos run how many days?
I more so go for quality not quantity. So the extra 30% you're worried about means little to me. This kind of fits the whole chicken thing right? Pump them full of stuff so they are bigger and tastier?

you have to weed (pun intended) through the marketing.. if you pay attention to these auto breeders everyone is try'n to put out the fastest (although best quality) they can... read these boards/forums everyone (an exaggeration) wants to know what is the fastest autos... breeders are advertisers.... a breeders time is usually the time it gunna take to get decent smoke/yield... it's not gunna be the best time to harvest... it's not even in their best interest for you to harvest at the optimal time... the higher yield/better quality means you don't have to buy as many seeds... all they have to do is make sure it's good enough quality w/enough yield to keep you coming back

i usually take their time as a min. but i have had them finish exactly on time... all those times the plant had lots of stress though

I've been pushing the feeding on my autos with no negative affects. They get 3 feedings a week 4 for a boost every other, and has caused no hindrance, the growth has been crazy. Getting fat and frosty. Without the nutes my girls would not be the size they are. One strain is bigger then my previous outdoor plant that was just reg female.

I've found when growing my first auto you need to ensure it is not deficient at any time of the grow. They seem to need more nutrients than reg plants possibly due to the way they mature, you have no control over this and when they are ready to flower they need to have the nutrients required already in place or it will affect the overall health of the plant in a much bigger way than normal plants (Thus affecting your yield). You have to keep one step ahead all the time. I'm loving the experience of this grow. Definitely going to try more.

ive noticed that the best flavor actual taste is usually around the breeder time but its no where near the optimum yield window
