Why wouldn't the extra vegg time improve yields.

5 gallon or 9 gallon it doesn't matter the size. also if you veg longer you get more budsites and yeild if your lighting can reach all the lower branches. and quit taking over my thread lol:eyesmoke:

Ally,

You can veg as long as you want but if you have a 7 ft tree and a 250 watt light, its a waste, as theres only so much light to go around. If you have a 1000 watter then maybe veg for 2 months, but I can say that my AI is getting quite bulky at 4 weeks. Vegging for 3 months is for tree growers so consider how much light and space do you actually have.

Here is an update on my AI grow, getting ready to start some og kush and i just ordered a new 400 watt light with ballast. i have added some upgrades to the tent, as you can see in 1 picture the 4" heavy duty exaust fan, it has been working well but is not so pleasant to sleep next to. I added a 4" axial fan at the bottom for better suction at night.

:confused:my tent is 4x4x6.8. i just bought a 400 watt hps to add to my 150 watt hps. How Many Plants would you think is safe to grow in this area with this lighting?

:confused:Does anyone know what the purpose of a ballast is when you have an hps light, i mean can you just plug the light into an extension cord or does it have to be plugged into the ballast and then plugged into the extension cord? +REP for help
trying to upload pix but having problems so i will do it in the next few days

I wouldn't try to plug directly without attaching to ballast. Shouldn't plug in anyway. Make sure extension is heavy enough to handle the wattage.

A lighting ballast is necessary to operate discharge lights because they have negative resistance, meaning they are unable to regulate the amount of current that passes through them. A lighting ballast must be used to control current flow; otherwise the light could fail. Small light sources can use passive components, which require no additional power to operate, as ballasts. An example would be a series resistor that limits the flow of current across its terminals. For high-powered lights, however, a resistor would waste a large amount of electricity, so a more complex lighting ballast is required

Thank you postman bob for answering my question+rep

A ballast is a step up transformer that is it, it wont do shit to protect your house from burning down thats what the breakers are for, follow all local codes, i use commercial ballasts for grows so i dont know about the self housing ones, but as to my knowledge no HID light runs off of 120/ 60 hz US, the actual lamp runs on like 340 vac, so basically the ballsts convert your input voltage, 120/208/277/480 to the desire voltage for that wattage lamp and the capacitor holds that voltage like a bank holds your money so you can buy stuff with no money in your account, basically keeps everything else on that circuit from flashing

Im scribed ! These bubble grows are amazing !
Can you tell me what size nets your using ? Watching this growth im wondering what a massive reservior with masive nets and a 600 watt might do . I have a really heavy duty container that holds 27 gallons and has room for 2 pots the size of a 5 gallon. I have never done a dwc grow and would love to grow some massive trees. I have the height and light source and some foxfarm nutes . I need to get the grow big hydro ! I will post when i get things going !
