Audio taper pot ok?

I did what I've done several times before on Amazon and ordered the wrong thing based on Amazon's recommendation based on price. So the question is can I use a audio taper pot or do I have to use a linear?

Is it the 3 pin 100k logarithmic pot ? if so, I see now reason why it wouldn't work but your dimming would be almost unnoticeable up to 50% and then very sharply increase.

you will have an extremely limited range of use, but it "can" work if you only want it to function
