OK, so here's the situation. I am growing in a 2' by 2' closet and just recently purchased a 150watt HPS system for my plant. I have been growing her for a little more than two weeks now. Before i was using two large CFL's, which worked perfectly, but i wanted to upgrade because i couldn't use them forever. Once the system was installed everything was good besides an increase in heat. The temp maxed out at around 87 degrees, but is usually at a constant 81 to 82 degrees. The soil I'm using is Fox Farm ocean forest, which Ive had for about a year now. So the problem is now the leaves of my plant have started drooping, and overnight some have began to develop yellow spots, and i don't know what the cause for this is. so if anyone could help me, i would really appreciate it. thanks.

Turn those CFLs back on for a few more weeks. 2 at least. Then harden her to that HPS. Think how a human would do going from an office to a beach for 18 hours? You say the FF for a year. Growing in it? If so how long or how many times and if used, what nutes?

You need to get those temps down more. Try moving more air by what ever means. Go big to grow big with air, containers and lights. In that order. You have the big light.

Try 1 teaspoon epsom salts in 1 gallon good water. Right from the tap you drink from.

What do you mean by this? It's not bad but has it be sitting for a year or has it been used for a year?

What are you feeding it and how much?

How close are you putting the light?

All in all it's not horrible. The yellowing will get worse and at best stop. It will never go green again but.. you're going to grow a bunch of other leaves to replace it.. It looks like the new growth is doing ok and that's a good sign.

Get back to us with some info and we'll make sure you're on the right track. When you go from CFL to HPS the plant has to switch gears and live on different color of light. Some times the old leaves can't change or can't change fast enough and some issues might arise.

Don't panic. :weed:

Yeah makes seance, ill do that. As for the Fox Farm, i have had a bag of it that i bought last year and never used. i didn't think the age of the soil mattered as long as the soil nutes were still in it. and i haven't been putting any extra nutes with it, just tap water.

With the CFL's the temp stays at a solid 75-76 degrees so i guess ill leave it as it is for now, and when its time for the HPS ill have to find a more open location with more circulation.

and epsom salt? what are the benefits of that?

Anyone else think it looks overwatered? Too much water + toasty soil = mild nute burn. That's what I'm seeing.
I also think keeping it under the CFLs for now will help.
But I would not rely on that moisture meter ... instead, see how long before the plant shows signs of dry wilt before watering again. if you watch it a couple of times a day, you'll do no harm. Once the wilt sets in, and you water ... the way the plant springs back up is impressive. cn

<add> Epsom salt supplies magnesium. Usually, interveinal yellowing is either an overwatering issue (I think so in this case) or a Mg deficiency. My worry is that I am seeing incipient nute burn, and adding an ionic nutrient at this time might be too much. I'd hold off on that until you have your watering sorted.

Right you are on anything but water. I was assuming it was used.
