i here people in here bashing the mg soils, ive used them all with Great! success... i now wont use fox farm soils to expensive for what it is.. i'll alway love miracle grow organic potting soil (not the kind for raised beds) for filler and will always praise that stuff...i started to use roots organic 707 and LOVE it ! mix even more perlite and and all my left over soils 1/2 bad of ffof and 1/2 bag of mg organic plants thrive, i can feed an extra feedings now thats awesome. i feel that its prepared me for my coco transition that is well under way now..............just thought id throw in my two cents :)

Does the MG organic you're using have time released nutes in it like mine does? I've avoided supplemental nutes because of this, last thing I need is nute burn!

Well, dummy me had it 3-4 feet under a halogen and the I was doing good to keep the temps under 80-85 so I did some more reading and changed to the cfl about 3 inches from the top and the temp has been a pretty steady 72-74 during the day and 68-70 first thing in the morning. I have the cfl in a 10 inch reflector to direct the light right over the pot....is that good or should the bulb be open? I cracked 4 more and put in humidity dome - 3 are sprouting and I don't have much light on them right now. Bought more cfl bulbs but not sure to put them under them at this stage?

Question...would using MH bulbs vs cfl in veg make a huge difference?
dont bother with the humidity. you need to upgrade your ventilation system and move more air so you can move the light closer. thats why your plants are stretched and praying up to the light. get a strong inline fan and cut out the humidifier. think of your plant like a fish and the air is the water.

no it does not(so safe i start seeds in that soil with perlite only ). you can get root organics at the grow stores i use the 707 mix.

If you are growing in the desert have shade and misters ready summer. AZ heat is BRUTAL! The average is about 108 for at least three months and humidity as at a whopping 5% during those times. We also have Tatooine style dust storms that will carry all kinds of crap around and give you the most wicked case of a chest cold (see valley fever) you have ever felt in your life. I guess what I am trying to say is

Where do you buy them from? Regular store like Home Depot or grow shop?
I know jimmy and his mom well < green life hydro> they helped alot with my new set up. Gave me killer discounts and he really knows cannabis 10+ yr.
Give them a shot. I know they have all 3 soil beav sugested. Lately i am getting a small bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest and mixing it 1 part to 4 of the kellog to help with organic nutes. I would def tell youto head to Green Life and ask jimmy questions he loves to talk about growing. Tell him Jay said hi.

Your plants should never have more than 4 hours of direct sunlight in the summer... They will burn up... Some strains can handle more be most can NOT...

Mexican sativas grow well outdoors in Az...

Place plants on the north side of trees, bushes, other plants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELCOME TO AZ!

A bit off topic but I just moved from the Midwest to AZ last year when one of these rolled through (not sure if it was this one but it was WICKED) and was in the process of buying a house with a pool and wondering what I was getting myself into! I can't envision myself ever growing outdoors due to the dust and heat! I would think it's much more labor intensive and risky with mother nature here.

Actually owning a pool and putting up with dust storms isnt that bad. I own a pool with a house facing desert landscaping, just gotta run the filters for 24 hours after haboobs or monsoon storms.

Pests and these weird exotic mold spores is what I am worried about in regards to outdoor growing. @azul- Bro, I think the only person who knows if you can make a bad ass AZ outdoor strain is you and maybe your son. I hope you succeed and if you do I'll line up to try your genetics. Welcome to AZ and thanks for bringing your knowledge and experiences.

I have a raised bed vegetable garden in the back yard, last Summer the day after one of those big haboobs, my squash plants were invaded by squash bugs, they were like little vampires sucking out the juices from the plants, took about two days to go from healthy plants to me going wtf happened and ripping them out. We were tired of squash anyways:finger:

Like beav said, having a pool here isnt so bad as long as it has a good filter and vacuum set up, I doubt I spend more than a half hour a week taking care of mine, maybe an extra half hour or so if we have had one of those big storms or I fuck up and let an algae bloom happen.
