personally i tend to save exactly..... 0 each month.

but i only work part-time as i have other commitments (education).

i guess it's rather important to start saving the pennies for the future, but i love to spend.

at the moment it seems like money is controlling my whole life. i practically bleed money for education, phone bills, pointless crap i don't need.

i think i need to restrict my amount of spending before i get into debt or something, ha.

so how much do you put away?

are you good with your money?

you should start saving up bro if you wanna own a house one day without having to get a 30 year loan from the bank and pay twice as much because of interest you know.
I try saving as much as I can, im pretty cheap...

Here are some tips for saving money;
1) start off with 20.00, open a bank account at least 10 miles away from your home.
2) deposit each week, even if only 5 or 10 dollars.
cut down slightly on your phone and others bills where you can.
It will feel GOOD once you start, you will want to keep up with it, after starting, it gets easier!
Good luck.................peace

yea, i think (hopefully) i will find it easy once i started.

it's just getting going that is the problem. i know i'll regret it if i don't start soon.

I highly reccomend a book called RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON! All about how to save and accumulate a million dollars. I have a friend that read the book , did 100% of what it said, and in 5 years, he had a million dollars.

And why are you telling us this instead of reading the book?

theres no magical way of making money just save up invest in stocks or open some kind of buisness and hope...

I agree with what MrKing said in his first post.

I'm a student as well and I get a shit-ton of scholarships every semester so what I dont use for tuition and books, I stash away in my savings account. Also, I work 2 awesome part-time jobs. 1st job pays the bills, 2nd job goes into my savings account. I put roughly $5000-$6000 in my savings account every semester

Going to school full-time and working 2 jobs keeps me from spending money on crap I don't need.

HERE is how you do it:

1. Calculate up the expenditures you have EVERY month (rent, utilities, cigs/pot, gas money, food) (mine are ~$1600) Don't include going out to eat and drinking and shit. Just the REAL recurring stuff

2. Calculate your total monthly income POST TAXES(~$2400)

3. Make it to where you only get paid once a month. My company makes me take the check 2 times a month, but I only deposit them once a month at the END of the month. If you don't have the cash, you can't spend it.

4. After looking at 1. and 2. you know that you (me really) have $600 a month to spend on whatever (such as going to bars, clothes, and dinner (unless you go to bars a lot and spend money on clothes a lot, in which case it SHOULD be in tally numero 1 (this would also explain why you are broke in the 1st place))) Or you could not go out to bars at ALL or buy any new clothes and pocket the cash.

Summarized version: Deposit all your checks at the end of the month, pay ALL of your bills before the 5th of the next month, and stop buying stupid shit.
