Are Wooden Pots Harmful?

So I just bought a board of plywood and was going to make pots with the exact dimensions I want but now I'm wondering if its safe to use this plywood to make into pots. Possibly after continuous watering the wood could rot and somehow harm my plants? Idk but I'm going to start putting them together now and come back to see if I have any replys.

Line them with a heavy black plastic.

Cut the heavy black plastic so that it covers the bottom and sides of the planter... run the plastic all the way up to the rim. Then tack a small strip of wood on the inside of the planter about 1 inch down from the rim (this holds the plastic in place)... then simply fold the plastic down over the wood strip. :)

What about drainage?

They make pots in almost every dimension i could imagine, both round and square. Would have been MUCH cheaper to just buy plastic pots. Even if you ordered it online, would have been much cheaper, much less of a headache, and much less time.

Go to Home Depot and buy Rubber Grommets (in the size you want your drain holes.) in the plumbing dept.

Cut holes in the wood the size of your grommets (use a small circular saw if possible to make the holes perfectly round)

Cut holes in the plastic right over the holes you drilled in the wood.

Place the rubber grommets through the plastic and wood to help prevent water from getting between the wood and plastic. I believe you shouldn't need to glue anything as the weight of the soil or grow medium should keep the grommets in place.... although if you aren't sure then use some silicone to secure in place.

I'm no expert but It should work. :)
