INFO
Psilocybe semilanceata (liberty cap) is a psychedelic mushroom that contains the psychoactive compound psilocybin. It grows on grassy meadows and similar; particularly in wet, north-facing fields and other habitats well fertilized by sheep and cattle feces, although unlike Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe coprophila it does not grow directly on the dung itself. It is found in fields where animals graze throughout the cool temperate and subarctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere and it is most common in "Newfoundland and Labrador, Europe, Russia, India, Peru and the Pacific Northwest United States, Northeastern North America and Australia."[1][2]
Like some other grassland species such as Psilocybe mexicana, Psilocybe tampanensis and Conocybe cyanopus, Psilocybe semilanceata may form sclerotia, a dormant form of the organism, which affords it some protection from wildfires and other natural disasters.[3]
Identification
Liberty caps have a distinctive conical cap with a small nipple on the top. They are yellow to brown in colour, fading to a lighter color as they mature. Their stems tend to be long and the same colour or slightly lighter than the cap.
I found it in the grassy area where i throw all my cuttings, so that could be a source of substrate decaying plant matter, i live in a wet area it rains at least every 3 days or it gets splashed when i water my plants. It even has the nipple on top, and i dont know of other mushrooms that have a nipple. I think i found me some shrooms boys
