Are these seedlings ok?

Hi,

This is my first grow. These 2 seedlings have been in rockwool cubes for about a week. They are about 2-3 inches from CFLs; ventilation is good; temps are good. I put the twist ties around the stems to keep them upright because 2 days ago they got droopy.

I may be guilty of overwatering during their first week, but I live in a very arid climate and these rockwool cubes seem to be as dry as chalk only 6-8 hours after watering a teaspoon or so. No nutes yet, just tap water that is about 6.6 pH.

I've read about the cotyledons dying, but I'm not sure if they're supposed to yellow and die this early, or even if this is what they're supposed to look like when they die. Each seedling has one set of tiny real leaves, and these leaves are very green, but the overall appearance of the plants has me concerned.

Are they ok? Any info I left out, just ask. Thanks!

hey man as long as they are green they are alive and you can keep them alive. if the conditions of hte rockwool are not suited for their existance they will cease to exist, and that is rudimentary. Therefore, you may want to very carefully split the rockwool and transplant into pH 6.0 nutrient free rockwool cubes that are not all smashed up.

and those twisty ties don't belong there... you should split a brand new rockwool in half, and without smashing it close it around the seedling's root, then wrap something around the outside (replace the plastic cover, perhaps) and water it with pH 6.0 distilled water. if you follow those instructions they will make it undoubtedly but could take a few extra days. simply no nutrients and no twisty ties and good rockwool cubes.
