I might be able to lay my hands on a load of these for next to nothing. They measure 1200x150mm and have 2 bulbs that state 'radium bonalux nl 54w/840' on them. Would they be suitable for a clone/veg setup? They come with cables to link one to the next easily, so i thought 5 together mighg be a decent lump of light.
The bulbs are like 15 quid, right?!? I can get them for next to nothing.

Opinions?

Also available 2' x 2' with 4 16w bulbs... cheap.

Sound. I guess the 4 footers would be more use than 2² cos of the wattage?
With 4 of those 4-footers next to each other you could have roughly 4x27w (let's say half the 54w of the 4 footer) on 2x2', that's 108w. That would work well imo, cause I use 54w T8 on a little over 2x1', 108w (or 135w if you get 5 bulbs) of T5 should work better. Not sure what the minimum distance between the tubes is for those, you might need more than 4 to cover 2 feet.

They're advertised at a euro each, or 60 for €50! That's insane right?
That's insane yes, seems cheaper than it is too make them. Are you sure they aren't used? Or green? ;) Or is it from some bankruptcy auction?

Oh definitely used, but it looks like they're from a closed business rather than a skip! Expect 25, even 40% wastage they're still not expensive...
