Are the roots supposed to be floating????

So i have a DWC setup in a 5gallon bucket. Everything was bought from walmart and handmade. I have 3 Air stones and 2 water pumps. One has 2 air lines coming from it and the other one has 1 airline. Well my roots seem to keep floating up in the air bubbles and not just sitting in the water stationary how i thought they would. at first it was ok. but now the roots are probably about 18" long so they are floating up and just moving around and getting tangled up. a few roots have broken off also. just wondering if this is ok? is it common or is it going to hurt my plants?

I think your roots should be fine, I have the same setup as you and have had no problems. (knock on wood) I actually do not subscribe to the air gap thing also and keep my buckets filled within about 2-3 inches of the top (so there is a small airgap I guess) and my plants have been perfect... beautiful I must say.

I have the sh bubbleponics and i have the same problem, well i guess it not really a problem bc mine are doing fine and they are doing that so i would think that your plants are good, i thought that they would sink into the water myself and then i noticed they were floating and i just waited it out for a few days but they still float, and no problems so IMO you need not worries =]
