hey there, my plants are about 2 weeks old and the leaves seem to be curling and going in all directions...... they are curling downwards just a little at the tips and twisting and growing all over the place kinda instead of opening up to the light.... the stems are still pretty straight going up though.... im growin in a hydro set up, in rockwool blocks, feeding them optimum hydroponix a and b for growth nutrients.... what are classic symptoms of too many nutrients?

also 2 of my plants are developing little goldish brown dots on the leaves.... ?

first time growing and not sure what i should be doing or checking for, thanks

Sounds like your pH is off. Are you doing anything currently to monitor this? If you act fast you should be able counter this, but you will need to talk to a knowledgeable nutrient seller at a garden or grow store.

I am having the same problem it seems with my plants, as far as the golden brown dots on the leaves. If this is in fact a pH problem, does it mean the pH is too high or too low?
I apologize for the picture being a bit blurry, but you should be able to see the discoloration well enough.

could be either, lockout is caused by the ph being too high and too low. You need to correct the ph. This can be done by pouring through a correctly ph'd feed. Although a lot of the salts will be dispersed on this watering there may still be some left behind. So go in lower than usual on the nutes just to make sure.

i have been testing my ph with a aquarium water ph tester, a bit of water, then a few drops of the liquid then i compare the colour to a sheet.... i have been keeping the ph just in between 5.5 and 6..... maybe it got a little higher at one point..... but this has only affected one of my plants. also i find allot of the leaves are drooping quite a bit, and also curling and growing in weird directions insdtead of up towards the sun..... ive changed the watering cycle to only twice a day (30 min each time).... how long does it take for the plants to bounce back from overwatering ?

still waiting for a digital camera

Liquid litmus is not an adequate way to test ph. You'll be better of with a digital ph meter. An essential piece of kit, most growers should get their hands on straight away.

I could recommend an excellent place to get one from, if you like?

Well for a start you have a potassium deficiency due to ph lock out... the digital meter will give you an exact reading. No need to try and figure out colours. The meters I get have a reading in 0.01 increments. No chance of messing up your ph with one of those.

the potassium defiency is whats causing the plants to droop down or the goldish brown dots?

until i get a more accurate ph meter, should i try and keep the ph lower or higher than 5.5?

Is it ok that i added the magical and hygrozyme ?

what is the site that sells these digital ph meters for a reasonable price? I only have a small personal grow going on, nothing too professional

the gold dots are caused by spider mites
Which pic' are you looking at? I didn't see any evidence of spider mites on that pic'... all i saw was deficiency caused by phlock out.

Do you have mottled leaves too, other than the one you showed in the pic'? There are other insects that can cause similar damage to spidermites.

Check the underside of your leaves for insects. Tiny little brown ones willbe moth worms... which is the most likely. You don't want spidermites.

i checked the bottoms of the leaves.... no insects... and the brown dots dont come right through to the bottom, which makes me hope its not insects....

speaking of insects though, i have a couple of other plants in the same room and one of them has 2-3 little very little white bugs that look like big dust specs and dont move much under the leaves, but they dont seem to be eating anything or doing any damage, is it bad to have other plants in the grow area? i assumed not...

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, I only thought that I had a similar problem such as yours and was looking to find an answer, and perhaps aid with a picture of my plants, if we were in fact having the same trouble.
