Are Autos as Good as thier Photo Genes?

I'm hankering to start a grow to come off just before the Super Bowl. I'm leaning toward Durban Poison Auto, have two sources IDed. I was looking for a full Sativa, but was put off by their heights (12-20 Feet!) Fortunately the Ruderallis whacks them off at the knees.

My Grow will be 2-3 in a 2'x3' scrog in a bathtub grow using NTF (Stink Bud derived) spray tub. I'm planning on using a 100 watt Fullspectrum LED aray that shoud give me good coverage (~600 uMols to the corners) where I'll fill in with some burple 75-100 watt fixtures, but I digress.

WHat I want to know is, Is the auto version of Durbun Poision as good as a the photo Landrace original? I'm looking for giggle "get off you ass weed" This Indica Hybrid shit just doesn't help me all that much and I'm looking for a wake up call!

Both seed banks say 65-70 days flowering and easy growing. Not expecting the finist but Im looking for respectable and properly cured 300-400 grams from 2- or 3 severely trained and trimmed this time.

No it's not as good as the real photo version.

You can push photos …. Longer veg , multi topping , all form of training , light cycle play , etc.

And of course … making mothers and cutting clones. SOG grows straight from clone under 12/12

Autos have a place … good for straight 90 day runs , perpetuals ( staggered weeks ) - photos too. , single static cycle , you can run them under same longer veg cycle with your photos. Simple bagged soil grow . Simple feed requirements.

and a thousand other reasons.

This will be my fifth or sixth run using a Stink Bud NTF. My objective this run is to get some good Sativa in the jars and try to get good cure. The lack of humidity here means it is hard to dry weed evenly for jarring. I will adhear to my minimalist side by Keeping It Simple Silly!
Next run I may branch out, I've got some seeds set aside. This run I wanted to concentrate on Sativa and solid DNA of a Landrace for durability and easy growing.I chose the Durbun for no nonsense Sativa. I'm hoping t get two runs in before next summer's heat starts.

ifyour thinking of growing sativas, i would sugest a photo version and clone it, 9 plants per square meter SOG. Im not sure how long durban takes to flower, but generalythey take quite a bit longer to flower and get the best out of them.
whats this stink bud NTF? Or should that read NFT nutrient film tecneek sp?

Growers Choice says they take 65-70 days of "Flowering" so I'm figuring another 30 days to get started from seed. So 3.5 months or so. I'm hoping for a little faster, but I'll wait if the Durban is as good as its rep.

Yes it NFT, oops. Basically spraying the roots and letting them hang out in the air.
In my previous runs I grew some dope, I'm smoking as I type. Not ass kicking but calming. Mostly Indica stuff.

Today is my birthday and I got a Amazon present, My new light and Ph pen will be delivered today! I expect the seeds to show up in a few days. I'm got to clean up and get my new Scrog screen expanded to 2'x3' to fit the foot print of the light.

I'm going to crack three seeds and see if I can fit three girls in my bathtub. I may lose one but two is enough if I train them right.

It's not as simple as yes or no... first off... a Durban Poison auto is not Durban Poison. It is Durban Poison crossed with rudirallis or another auto strain. 2nd "as good as" is subjective. One guy may say it's as good. Someone else will say it's better, Someone else will say it's garbage. At the end of the day auto Durban Poison is someone's auto interpretation of the original. Maybe it will have a similar taste or similar effect or both... or it might be nothing like it.

Well, I guess the only thing to do is grow it and see. I got my new light yesterday, only one day after ordering! I had better clear out the mummies and reorganize my Electricity distribution. Check the fans and get every thing clean so with the Girls arrive I can germinate.

Well the Durban Poision Autos just stalled aout at 3/4" high and the best of three developed it's second node. Other than that two seeds just sprouted and died. I just started two White Widow seeds to get something in before the playoffs start.

Don't take how fast they say they will be done as the actual time I did auto's for my first grow said 8 weeks and I'm on week 14 with a few more to go

Yeah I always add 4 weeks to get the seedling started. My Durbans stalled and I started a couple of White Widow Autos. Pushing the playoffs now but the WW seem to be advancing.

It’s all about genetics..
Photo or Auto.
That’s why it seems most people prefer clones from a well established mother that has already been tried an true in a specific climate.
A lot of CBD and Hemp farms struggle with disease, pests, and fungus bc the genetics from which they have access to are junk bc of the low THC requirement forced upon them by the federal govt..
The hardy THC cultivars that have evolved over thousands of years are less prone to such issues.
Good luck! WW is one of the most hardy cultivars there is!

Best overall effect I've ever had was from a Seedsman Kush Auto freebie that i grew. Had an almost savory breakfast sausage aroma + kush, every rip was like eating a snack. Wasn't "the best" or "the strongest" weed I've ever had by any means, but it was the most memorable and probably the best overall effect I've had to date.

Having said that, i really feel like autos mostly get a bad rap by people who grew a shitty one 10 yrs ago, or people who've never grown them but shit on them anyway.

They're NOT faster, if you root-n-fruit a photo it's just as fast.

Doing 4 autos right now...also my first go at growing. I've abused them and they're tiny little things (the tallest is a 22 inch anklebiter) but they're keepin' on. Now at day 81 since germination and they've got a few weeks in them still. Two Northern Lights, one Tangerine Dream, one Blueberry. All faithfully went to flower at week 5.

That all said, I'm going to do another run once these finish, but will do a photoperiod run after that. Looking forward to having more control and now that I feel like I've got at least some knowledge and ability under my belt...

They've done OK not because of me, but in spite of me. I've made every mistake in the book then some, but I learned from each one along the way. The biggest is 22" the smallest is about 14" I bombed them with too much light early on and didn't transplant quickly enough.

They look way less impressive from a distance:

And to cut it off at the pass, the one in the upper left corner isn't overwatered. It's a mutant. It's the Tangerine Dream, all leaves have 3 lobes and no matter wet or dry its remained in that compact leaf-drop stance the whole time. It's got pretty solid buds that run the length of each of the stems but they're super compact with eachother.

You are looking someting like "Auto Zamaldelica" or "Malawi x Northen Lights auto" from ACE Seeds.
