The council, representing arab states in the middle east and north Africa, voted to support a no-fly zone "until the crisis is over", at which time it would be discontinued.

This is significant. It alone may be enough for NATO to find its cover to act. If not, next stop the UN.

All i care about right now is that the USA does not get ito the middle of another civill war, especially with a country that has the ability to cause some serious damage. If we do get involved we need to just carpet bomb Ghadaffi's palace, his ammo dumps etc. It would need to be just an incredible surge where 1 day there is no americans next day there are 1000's and I know for a fact that we have the assets to make it so.

Make no mistake about this.... if we are asked to help enforce a no-fly zone, we are going to have to take out the country's air defense systems and facilities, which in turn means the loss of life. That act alone is an act of war. The next hot topic is, where to enforce the no-fly zone? You can't blanket the entire country and leave Gadhafi's air defenses grounded, because if you do, you have sided with the rebels, whom haven't even declared they want a democracy. Chances are good that once the power vacuum opens up, another general will step up to take over with the army's support.

I would like to see the USA offer logistics for the no fly zone, that's it, no fighter pilots or combat aircraft. We can fly SAR's and ATCs and just what is needed to protect our men and women and assets.

I personally believe that ANY action we take will simply fuel the anti-US hatred in the region. Don't forget, we already have combat boots on soil in two Arab nations. Chavez is already accusing us of warmongering simply for moving assets into place in the Mediterranean Sea.
