Aquaponics

Has anyone ever hear of someone growing (or grown) in a aquaponic system, and if so, how did it turn out?
just doing some research on aquaponics and thought it might be a good medium to grow bud in.

Is that the same as hydroponics?

It's hydroponics using water and fish poop. That's gonna take a lot of fish!

basically it is a system that transfers the nutrient filled water from the fish tank to the hydroponic system, where the plants take the nutrients out of the water and then the "clean" water is sent back to the fish tank to start the process over again.

I saw an aquaponic setup and was intrigued. We have set one up with the 2500lt fish tank 2 x 2.5 grow bed on top. we have 100 fish in the tank, the water is continuously pumped into the growbed and drains back into the tank. One pump plus an aerator for the fish. I put 8 seedlings into the grow bed and they are 1/3 bigger and better than the ones in pots after 3 weeks. This set up is inside with a 400watt light above it. I am going to leave them in there for the whole duration so I will give you an update as we go, (if you wish). In the end you get something to smoke and something to eat..... the fish and the vegies inbetween the plants.
