Apparently you can raise fish and plants synergistically. The fish produce the nutrients, and the plants clean the water. Sounds awesome!

Does anyone here do this?

i was using an AP cloner for two years. there is no easier, sure-fire way to clone, period. just cut, stick, and wait. no other method can do it that easily. they all involve humidity domes, foliar spraying, rooting hormones, etc. tore it all down to start my room from scratch, but will be setting it up again after this grow. also great for veg.

i have a 100gallon ap+nutes grow a couple of weeks from completion. you have to add nutes, as you just won't get the P-K you need from fish food during flowering. this rules out eating the fish, at least for me. have run as high as 1200ppm. running nutes between 500-1000ppm now. the main benefit over straight hydro is that you don't have to worry about maintaining a sterile res, adding peroxide or bennies, or EVER getting root rot. because you NEVER have to flush, you use about 1/10th the nutes throughout a grow.

my sense is that a lot of hydro folks have their way of doing hydro dialed in and are convinced they couldn't benefit from adding silly fish to their res. iit's not exactly that simple, but it does have valuable benefits (as stated above) and would definitely improve any hydro grower's results, regardless of experience. the fish do groom the roots if they have access, but it's really the nitro bacteria that keep the system disease-free.

there are a few peeps on RIU that are doing ap grows too, so if you do decide to try it, there is a small community here to support you. it's only a few bucks extra to setup and takes a little extra time to cycle the nitro bacteria if you don't have an existing aquarium to harvest bacteria cultures from. and saves lots of money, time, effort, and worry down the road. do it!
