i have one tent and a small patio area. i grow from seed alot of the time and would like breed just one of my better looking males with another single plant from my tent but my question is just if i isolate the male and one female i want pollinated in my bathroom will i be able to put the pollinated female back into my tent with my other females without a little pollen still left on the female.

is there a protocal for sterilizing the plant after is pollinated. i figure i can put the best looking male on my patio and force it to flower outside till its ready to pollinate one of my smaller females in my tent,

Here's one way you can do this. But remember, water kills pollen.

Now, after saying that, right after you pollinate your girl, Lightly mist the entire plant.

1) this will "set the pollen"
2) it makes it less airborne.

This is how I do my seed runs and I get 2000 beans and no other girls get pollinated.

But don't rub her against any other plant either...

awsome thanks for the tips!!! just what i needed to hear. ill just put the pollinated girl in the corner of the tent so nothing touches her and all will be well ill probably post in here as it progresses.
also how mature do the males sacks need to be before i can breed? is it possible to speed up the process by manually cutting and opening the balls a little early?

No, that wont work, but nice thought though...I mean your timing would have to be right. The sacks open, when the pollen is ready. By opening them early, 1 you may not have any pollen there yet, and 2 the pollen would very likely not be viable. But you could always give it a try. Experiments are always fun plus you lean in the process...

And FYI that's not breeding it's called pollen chucking. But if it makes you happy have at it.

that was good advice. Let the pollen sit on the plant for a day before you mist it. Soo if it turns out to be a good hybrid will that make it breeding?

Let me rephrase my last post. What I was referring to was the title of the original thread. Anyway you slice it it's pollen chucking. Best advice I can give you on breeding this plant is to go buy a copy of Marijuana Boatny by Robert Connell Clarke. Don't get me wrong I've done the same thing. I think every grower has experimented & produced & grown out their own seeds. But let's call it like it is. Breeding is a highly technical process of many attributes. 1.) Crossing two varieties having outstanding qualities ( hybridization )
2.) Crossing individuals from the F1 generation or selfing F1 individuals to realize the possibilities of the original cross (differentiation).
3.) Back-crossing to establish original parental types.
4.) Crossing two similar true-breeding (homozygous) varieties to preserve a mutual trait and restore vigor.
5.) Pollen chucking.

No, spray it directly after you pollinate the plant. Don't let it sit there for a day and then spray.

Well, when you pollinate a plant to get the same genes or to simply build seed stock, it's still called Pollination my friend
Out of curiosity, how many strains have you created???
Don't disrespect a guy for making his own seeds dude. If your some kind of guru then fine, but I'm thinking your just trying to show somebody that you've learned something new...And that's fine. But don't try and make it sound like he's made some crap beans.
To my knowlage, he's not just pollinating any and all felames with open pollination.
If you would like to get into a breeding match, I'm all for it. Got several new strains under my belt and I know quite a bit about breeding...

I want to be just like you when I grow up. I didn't disrespect the guy at all just gave him sound advice. Unlike you who just bashes other people's advice. The title of his thread is what I originally referred to. Simply stated their is no way what he's doing is breeding. If you had 1/2 the knowledge you claim you do then you would know that. What he's doing is called pollination. What your doing is called being a douche bag. Peace 

Your right, I was being a dick head, sorry man. It don't matter, but I just got a few things going on and I took it out on you. My appologies...Wont happen again!!!

No worries bro. I got lippy myself sorry. Relax & medicate oneself. Always makes me feel better 

Ok back on topic. Let me try this again. Best advise I got for you. Take the plant, or plants that you want to pollination out of the tent they are in. A good option for you being in an appt. Is probably the shower. Carefully collect the pollen from your male plant. Plenty of info on here as to the correct way to do that. Select which branches you want to seed. Bottom & side branchesare your best option. It'll produce plenty of seeds for you. I store my pollenin film canister, or medacine bottle. Use a small paint brush & collect the pollen on the tip of the brush & apply to your selected branches. By not pollinating the entire plant you have your best top buds for smoke. Wait for your female to be around week 3 into flower before applying pollen. This leaves plenty of time for the seeds to mature. Don't over feed your lady when she's seeded. Just let her do her thing until the seeds are ready to pop out of the calyxes. You'll be able to tell when they are ripe. Hope this helps. Also after you hit her with pollen let her sit for 1/2 hr. Then mist her down real well with plain water. Leave her in the shower or separate room over night if possible? Next day mist her down again & she's ready to return to flower. Last thing is don't forget to mark your branches that you polinate. Zip ties work, or tape. Best of luck.
I only meant that breeding is much more in depth then what you are doing. I'm just now finishing up stress testing my p-1 female for my breeding project. I started testing her last summer. She is bullet proof! You've got to put your parents through a long series of tests to make sure they are breed worthy. Lots of good info on the web on breeding this plant. Good luck.

this wont be a problem anymore guys there was a timer failure on this grow and everything went into reveg so i cut them down and switched to hydro and clones for the moment. but after i move into a new place in the mountains i plan to do plenty of "breeding" and "pollinating"

thanks for all the advice anyway
