Anyone with SANlights?

I've been trying to find information about the differences of the "old" SANlight Q series and the new EVO series.
Anyone here with experience with either one or preferably with both?

I'm going to upgrade from 600W HPS in a 4x4 to a LED setup and the SANlight EVO is one of the top choices at the moment for me.

Others I've been pondering are Marshydro FC-E4800 and ViparSpectra XS4000

ignoring build quality and warranty issues ect, the marshydro FC-E4800 is the best way of lighting your 4x4, the san lights look well made (austrian i think) but the small footprint diode layout is old hat now and just not the best way to light a 4x4.

Hmm, this is interesting. I was under the impression that this new "EVO" lineup from them is "bleeding edge" tech and the diodes are supposed to be really good.

Is the layout the only problem with SANlights?

There's been recent reports of a guy buying his Mars light from Mars euro web, light arrives faulty and they are making him ship the light back to China on his own dime. No light, no money, no recourse.

they are nothing like bleeding edge in terms of efficiency, spectrum or layout. it says they use osram for the reds and seoul semiconductor for the whites, if they are top bin osram they will be good but im not aware of seoul semiconducter making any bleeding edge/efficient whites...

yer the layout is not great, its to concentrated, you want your photons spread more evenly across your canopy...

Like I said. I'm new to LEDs. I used to work in a grow store around 2000-2010 and towards the end LEDs started to pop into the market and they were complete garbage compared to HPS. Due to that I lost interest and just decided to wait till the tech matures and continued to use HPS. Had another look at LEDS around 2013 and still wasn't impressed and kinda forgot the whole thing.

I only now got interested as couple of my friends have had somewhat acceptable to quite good results with LEDs. One of them used SANlight EVO series in his 4x4.

I'm now reading and researching as much as I can about this, but the biggest limiting factor for me is the availability of lamps/brands where I live (I'm in a remote part of EU). I could get SANlights from my local grow store but almost everything else (excluding mostly no-name brands) is kinda hard to get and I would need to order them from abroad which rises the cost due to shipping and also making any warranty stuff a bigger chore and a headache. I'm mainly looking for means for a good end product, efficiency not being that high on my priorities, albeit a welcome thing.

Hence my interest on this brand. Naturally at this point I have zero brand loyalty and would just want to find a good light.
Does this PAR map and spectrum from SANlight rise any alarms? The site states that the lamps (would need two of them) are hanged 30cm above the canopy on a 1.2 x 1.2m (4x4) tent.

the sanlights will grow just fine, im not saying they are rubbish or anything its just not a light id choose in 2021.
but i hear what your saying about availability in your location limiting your choice...

the spectrum is the same as 99% percent of the lights out there, pretty standard 4000k or 5000k white plus 660nm red and 730nm far red...

how much do the sanlights cost where you are?, can you not order from within the eu?...

yep i read that, sucks for him...

its a shame because if they stood behind their lights and weren't cunts with warranty claims ect they would be a decent low cost option...

I can order within EU. I would just prefer to buy locally if possible to avoid the possible problems that might arise from warranty issues and the need to ship stuff back with my own money. But naturally if I can find a good deal and save a lot of money by ordering abroad I will choose to do it.

I did some more digging and foundfew other grow shops in my country and they all seem to stock more or less the same models at exactly the same prices while having some overlap on certain models (some stores only sell model X while others only model Y) I have no idea why, maybe some kind of cartel...

They stock:

SANlight EVO 4-120 - ~480eur a piece. Total price for my setup ~1000e
Lumatek Zeus Pro 600W - 1400eur
Lumatek Zeus 600W - 1300eur
Lumatek Zeus 465W - 700eur
Lumatek Attis 300W - 560eur
Flexstar 480W - 650eur
EasyGrow S1200 PRO - 1100eur

Some of those are recommended for 3x3 tents and others only for open spaces or bigger tents than my 4x4.

Looking at those prices, that ~540eur Marshydro FC-E 4800 does seem quite attractive. But to be honest, I'm somewhat worried about the customer service, build quality and the warranty clause, specially if it really needs to be shipped to China. It would cost me hundreds of euros.

Have you tried kingbrite.de? They're highly respected Chinese maker, they use great components.i ordered from that German site and im very happy with my purchase.

I was not familiar with them. I took a look at their site and currently they only have one model and it's out of stock.

:shock: the lumatek stuff is dear where you are...shame they are a good light.

led-tech.de is another euro option...

if i was buying a light today i would want the best/ most efficient diodes i can get my hands on and i would like a lot of them spread as evenly over the canopy as possible...

Heres one video about their assembly place. I guess the majority of customers (being in non-legal countries) are not willing to post video. But there are a few vendor unboxings on youtube. One point that I noticed is that the dimming options are extra and are not exactly cheap. But its a small thing and probably just me. The fact that you can get them local to you is a plus. Also having a friend with the same model means you can swap notes on usage, another plus.
