Anyone use zippo lighters ?

I know that zippo lighters aren't the best to use for like pipes and stuff because of the fluid taste you might get, but does anyone use them to light just regular " J's " or tobacco maybe?

I have had this one quite awhile and still use it. :bigjoint:

BTW: Does anyone know for sure what the bars or roman numerals mean on the bottom? I was told that it represents the time frame that they were made, not sure if that was accurate or not though.

Feel free to post a pic of yours if you want to.

I've used zippo ligthers for a while to light up joints.... but I lost it a while ago :(

Now I'm thinking about buying the torch ligthers for my bowls......

But zippo ligthers are still awesome

Not sure about the Zippo .... not used one for years ....the smell of the fluid can be a bit harsh :)

I love the design and how robust they are though :)

For people who lose lighters a lot ( Like i used to ) ...I would recommend a "Lighter Leash "

Had the same lighter for about 8 months now :))

I have used them all my life. I have several. As for the marks on the bottom, it identifies the grade or quality of the lighter. The more lines the better the quality.

Yes the marks on bottom denote age mfg. not sure about new ones now but 80s and older for sure
Carried a zippo most my life..........dont smoke anymore but still have my zippo with me and all fueled up.....they just sound wiked when you flip em open LOL

I've got one that was some kind of promotional give away or gift shop item that has a hospital logo on it(I love irony, too). It doesn't have any Roman numerals though. It is probably 20-30 years old.

i used zippo lighters for years when i was a cigeratte smoker. nothing like the sound of one opening and closing. the hash marks are dates, go to the zippo website to get details. i've got a collection of more than fifty zippos. my favorite is a ships lighter that i gave to my dad when i was in the navy, i found it in his desk after he passed away. as far as lighting a joint or my favorite bowl, it has to be butane for me.

i absolutely love zippos. real ones, not those shitty copies from the joke store. i don't carry them around because i'm one of those people who never has a lighter for more than a week, and they need to be refueled and maintained quite a bit. replacing the flint is a pain in the ass, too. but damn it's a nice lighter. i don't like them for doobs though because the flame is so unstable. you end up burning half the joint to get it lit. they are just perfect for blunts and ciggs though, and they work well on pipes that can be turned sideways. maybe if i saw a nice sam adams one i would get it.

Zippo is super oldschool they almost issued them out with packs of smokes, back in the day the coolest lighter in a bar....i use a torch now but i sometimes use the zippo to spark it ;)

I have a nice Zippo i've had most of my life which needs a new wick and a new hinge (gotta love the warranty!) and i've also a nice imco although that's better for cigarettes than fat joints

I bought my zippo from the mall for like $30 included fluid and wick, For lighting a bowl with the it that wouldn't be so good. Its lighter fluid not butane so the chemical fumes are more harsh, I occasionally light a joint with it but that's about it :P

The zippo lighter was actually handed out with the US Army Uniform back in the day
