So I'm thinking about doing a DWC with 4" net pots and neoprene inserts. I built a bubble cloner using 2" neoprene inserts and I'm thinking of moving those clones directly into 4" net pots and eleminating the hydroton.
I imagine the only problem would be supporting the plants weight after it got big.....

Anyone ever do this?

Thanks,

J

hell i used soil.it works got the trick from the guy who taught me how to dwc and its working great( i got free soil and couldnt afford hydroton) but i got some now and am gonna change it out after harvest.its working great but got lots of riu folks scratching their heads lol you could tie it to the sides once it got big id imagine but a medium is a safer bet

i used a hole saw and cut holes to the size of my neoprene pucks and used wire cleaners to hold them tight and they worked just fine. no need for the net pots.

just a quick question on using soil for dwc.. doesn't the soil get the water filthy and cause problems with say clogging of any lines and things like that?? just wondering is all..

actually no it dosnt after the first couple water changes its pretty clear.as the roots grow they force the soil out of the bottom.i dont circulate my water either just airstones so no problem with lines clogging.

Yea, I think I'm going to go for it, what the hell.... I'll post the results here as I go...

make sure to keep the soil moist so it dosnt shrink and let light in the net pot.I had that problem thats why theres foil all over my tote now.good luck!

I'm not going to use soil....I'm not going to use any grow medium.....Just going to use the neoprene inserts to support the plant and keep the light out...
