Anyone tried the Hortilux ceramic HPS bulb and ballast?

I recently took delivery of my Hortilux ceramic HPS bulb and ballast, and am going to replace on of my CMH lights with it.

Does anyone have any experience with that at all? I;'d be keen to hear your experiences. One of the UK sites absolutely trashed them, but i am hoping they didn't understand how the light is calculated.

Many thanks in advance.

i used to use hortilux 1000w s hps and lumitek ballasts. they were the best on the market at the time. i would run it for 3 grows and use the ballast s lumen feature on the last grow before replacing the bulb. everyone is using gavitas now.

I've been using Hortilux SHPS lights for 20 years in 400, 600, 1000 and the best is the 940W conversion bulb as big as a football. I looked over the specs on their CMH and found it lacking by far in comparison to other CMH bulbs and way below the conversion bulb.

Hopefully they've upgraded it from what I saw when it first came out but haven't looked at them since the first time.

That's an 18" ruler. Foot and a half for the metric folks. ;)
