add rhisome culture or compost to get the beni's. the beni's are an important part of tea and nutrient formulations may not have them inherent

When brewing tea, you only add what doesn't dissolve well in water. Ferts that dissolve in water don't need to be made into a tea. If you add them while brewing, they will saturate the liquid with nutrients and make it harder for nutes from the solid ferts to dissolve. Once a tea is brewed, you can then add easily soluble ferts to adjust the nutrient ratios. Some of the best fertilizers are mixes of a few different substances.

Listen to your mother, she knows best. For real. Most nutes will KILL all beneficial life in your compost tea. Preferred is to feed tea separately from nutrients. Second best is to add nutes to tea just before watering. If you have nutes that need to bubble to become bioavailable, then do that separate from your compost tea.
