Anyone know this vaporizer trick?

My friend is selling me a vapir vaporizer for 70 bucks (he bought it last fall and used it once lol) so its practically brand new. i have tried doing some online research and i have found that certain parts should be taped up to not allow any leaks. Anyone use this vape/ or this technique? I really dont know much about it...

dude they're like $150 new, i'd go for it.
