Anyone here grow or haven grown using a 300w LED grow light?

I also heard nothing bad about the mars. Apparently they get super weak after the first grow as well. A HPS or. MH bulb would totally create more harvest. You have a nice heat coming from those bulbs. The issue with HPS and MH is the electrical bill. Hence why I been posting to see alternatives And want to move onto something else. As for you LED light, how much was that costing you a month to run? Just curious.

@boilingoil a true 270 watt gave you over a pound?!? How many plants where under that light? Looks like 4-6 if I’m not mistaken. What type of light is that or is it custom?
6 plants covering a 3x4' area. Just a simple home built strip set-up. cost around $250 to build.

To be honest i'm not sure, not that im a sponge but I don't pay the power bill, ive asked before and have been told the bill didn't go up much, when I figured it with a calculator I figured around $10 a month. Idk I don't think the LED's are very hard on hydro or I would have been told lol

That’s not bad for LED. Reasons why I wanna grow with LED. I hate hydro bills. Gotta keep them as low as possible. There are benefits to the HID bulbs but damn. The amount of hydro they suck is unreal.

Good to know maybe Ill just buy another LED and run 2 of them. I will mainly be growing outside but I like to grow 1-2 plants over fall and winter, something to do during the month I don't go outside lol

My neighbor used 3 of those fixtures-as long as you trained the plant to minimize stretching it will flower a single plant. Problem she had was if she couldn't keep the canopy flat it would create heat damage if she lowered it enough to get enough intensity throughout the plant.
She now uses a HLG 260W XL QBV2 fixture. As the name implies, it's a quantum leap in the amount of light it produces from each watt of power.

i have grown a shitload of weed with mars lights, thats from first hand experience. not going to argue with anyone who has never used one, but " read somewhere someone else said", i have used them. ...that being said, i flower my best plants in a 3x3 under 600 watt hps, my seed bearing mamas tent has 2 400 watt mars II which is about 100 true watts per square foot. My hps flower tents each have a mars reflector beside a 600 watt dimmable hps.10-13.jpg

Ya I would rather take someones word from a past experience then a HPS is the best LED's suck type person. Not saying anyone in this thread is that but I've read Mars lights suck then people who use them say theyre awesome. I'm not looking to grow 10+ oz of pot .

hps doesn't use hydro it uses electric...hydro means water ...

I use both LEDs and hid lights, i'd stay away from LEDs unless you got a big budget, HPS is the best way to get a cheap grow setup that can yield pounds.

HPS sucks up the electric bill don't it?
Not really, 600w hps costs me less than 30$ a month to run.... unless you running big time electric it won't make a difference what type of light you use.

Especially when your harvest is consistently more than a pound.

You'll need to spend a few thousand dollars on LEDs to match the HPS .

Skoal might be Canadian like me we call electricity Hydro as the main electric company in Ontario is called Hydro One .
Oh and if you think HPS uses too much electric i'd go with CMH, the spectrum is considerably better than LED spectrum and yields are fantastic, CMH produces the best quality buds for indoor.

I wanna get a HPS but was scared about the electric bill as people are saying they're hard on it. I wanna get a 400w HPS but I also seen a 150w HPS when is fairly cheap and was wondering if it would be better then my 300w LED.

You can get a pound per run with that of some of the highest quality nugs available, would definitely destroy any LED in the quality dept and very easy on the electric bill.

I am not sure what everyone is complaining about. If you have a 400w hps or a 400w led (true 400w at the wall) they are both using 400w of power, the power usage is the same.... the price to run each are the same. A blurple led “equivalent” to 400w but is actually a true150w will obviously cost less to run but your only using 150w.

The only difference is hps will heat the space up more costing more in cooling I guess, but watt for watt it’s the same cost.
