Anyone have issues with Android and google photos?

Just had over 600 photos disappear from my photos album on Android, and all mysteriously from my google drive.. nothing in deleted or anything.

Happened a few months ago but it was 1068 photos with zero record of deletion.

Lost some good pics of family and friends.

Anyone had similar issues before? Usually if they get deleted off your phone they are stored in Google backups for eternity and 28 days in deleted photos, but they have gone completely AWOL.

I wouldn't trust my precious memories to a free third party service. External memory drives are so inexpensive now, best to back up your photos and videos to a couple of sources that you control.
