Anyone ever heard of 'Chito Sal?'

Clicked on the link. Canadian product. Never heard of it. Looks like a beneficial/bacterial product? @ 1-4mls a gallon. 250ML bottle @ $35 not bad for the price.

What does it actually do though? I know it's an additive, but how does it benefit the soil? Does it increase microbial content in the soil?

I seem to remember a post from OnlyOrnamental on ICMAG about Chitosan not being as useful when applied simultaneously with Salicylic acid.

And even if you use less SA and chitosan, it still remains a bad choice because the main effect of chitosan on stimulating plant immunity is mediated via jasmonic acid: SA and JA are in most regards mutually antagonistic. Although, chitosan is compatible with both 'mediators', it's not recommendable to externally add one UNLESS you have a specific pest where you know the main signalling/resistance pathway. I think that most of the commonly encountered pests in cannabis growing (I can only guess without a poll ;) ) are mediated by JA or first SA than JA. Adding SA to chitosan will hamper any JA mediated response.
And finally, the effects of JA on plant immunity coincide with several beneficial effects for tokers (like resin production and control of DELLA proteins) whereas SA causes unwanted effects in the eye of a grower (like stomata closure).

It's just chitosan
It works. .. do you need it? No. Does it help.... Ya def with smelling more, flip comes quicker a bit. I've never purchased it but I have about 10 bottles from samples

'It is possible to obtain chitin from some organic amendments, such as oyster shell powder, crustacean shell meal, insect frass, and mealworms. It is also available in many commercially produced products in the water-soluble and active form of chitosan'

I have another brand of it too. I'll check what it is. I think it's from the makers of hygrozyme

I use both chitosan and aspirin, which is acetylsalicylic acid, and shown to work comparably to salicylic in plants in several studies. I got a free 1 gal of Hyshield from Sipco last year and have been chipping away at it ever since. It's great in a foliar along with Southern Ag Garden Friendly fungicide, because the bacteria produce chitinase from the chitosan, which is a natural form of insect control. I get a few fungus gnats each grow, but this combo really suppresses them well and I hardly ever need to do any additional treatment. I wouldn't feed chitosan more than once per week. This product seems overly pricey for what you get, you can source much cheaper chitosan and aspirin is dirt cheap.
