anyone ever grow a bonzai tree?

There are videos on youtube about them. I would recommend watching as many different ones possible because that will give you a good idea what to do and not to do.

Ive been growing a dwarf juniper bonsai for a while now, its very little work; but rather rewarding.
water once a week by submerging the plant in a tray of water and then lifting out by the stem.

If your a beginner dont start from seed. They take to long to mature, three years usually at least. Buy a tree or bush from a nursry and bonzai that thing. Theres also the option of stealing a tree from nature that looks good, i liberated a tree last year and its in a five gallon bucket doing well
i bonzaied my chronic to spread it out a bit and it worked great but i had to take it off in four days because the branches grow so fast. Theyre still spread out pretty good. Go bonzai !!Attachments

Me too bde0001... NinjaBowler, I really like that training on that plant there. I was thinking of doing something like that when I switch to photoperiod plants for the summer. Except, I was planning to not wrap the wires around so snugly, as to allow for stem thickening. Is that why you took them off?

Ya, i wrapped them tight and used them to change the branch direction. Took them way down and they stayed spread after they came out. I wish i wasnt chuckin em because they were nice plants.

Why not grow an edible plant like mint or basil and such and train it like a tree.

Well if you keep a mother you can just cut clones and it would be the same as prunning a bonsai tree.
