Anyone else heard that you need to renew your card by July 10?

I heard the same exact thing. Not sure if it's actually true or not. I am authorized till 7/7/2013 so thank god I got mine early.
I think this will create quite a few disgruntled patients.

I agree. Looks like about 25,000 out of 30,000 are growers. It wont be easy to put the cork back in.

If your card says you can cultivate, you can until it expires. When cards are renewed, DHS will check for a dispensary within 25 miles and use that to determine whether your card will say authorized to cultivate or not.
July 10 or Aug 10, doesn't matter. If you renew after dispensary licenses are issued but before a dispensary is actually open for business within 25 miles of you, you will have a strong legal case for your right to cultivate IF DHS denies you the right on your new card.
The really interesting part of the 25 mile situation is that patients will have a very strong legal case against DHS if dispensaries aren't actually in operation consistently. And will they be? I doubt it. They'll be raided and opening and closing non-stop.
The only thing that's certain is that this is going to get messy and the best strategy for me and my people is... keep it quiet, keep it clean.

Many Dispensaries will take a year to be open. You should be fine cultivating up until the time they are open.

ADHS has stated that your cultivation rights will end only when you renew your card. If you have a card in your possession that says you are authorized to cultivate, then you are. When you go to renew your card, that's when they will look to see whether or not a dispensary is open within 25 miles of you as the crow flies.
Even if a dispensary opens up the block from your residence, you will be allowed to cultivate until your card expires.

Does this mean if I get my card (not renewed, first time card) before the renew date, I am still able to cultivate?

If AZDHS sends out new cards d-authorizing patients to grow, there will be a lawsuit due to the misleading tactics of the state.
It would not come as a surprise if they did something sneaky under the radar, the politicians always do...
But notice when you sign up for your card there is box to check that says AMMA could be canceled at anytime.

No this is Arizona man. Our program is just in its infancy and the dispensary portion is about to hit the ground.

Growers will be the ones calling the feds on the dispensaries. Once they are shut down, renew their cards. Has that not occurred to anyone?

Not exactly. The authorization is a special status on your card, giving you a license to cultivate. But the way the law is written, the state cannot grant this license if there is a dispensary operating within 25 miles of the patient's home address, on the day the card is issued or renewed. Since it's written into the law itself and not just a health department rule, it can't be changed without a whole new ballot initiative. An attempt to do that would probably end with repeal of the whole program at this point.
Individual cultivation in Arizona is doomed, if the state and the feds actually allow dispensaries to operate.

The politicians attempted to discredit this program as much as possible and unfortunately they did a good job..
All they needed to do was stall the dispensaries, sit back and watch the irresponsible people, who translate the AMMA guidelines into what they want to hear, ruin it for a sheer profit.
I highly doubt any growers will want to have any contact with the feds. And no one needs to call on the dispensaries the feds probably already have a close eye and will find them all by themselves.
