Can you cure in Tupperware? Where I am, glass jars are a bit expensive & hard to find. So, can you cure in airtight Tupperware?

Thanks!

I have used Mayonaise jars. Was going to use pickle jars but could not get rid of the pickle smell. I have read that plastic is not a good idea though I cannot remember why.

I suppose I could just go buy the cheapest jam ever made and empty out the jars. That should do it. Better than pickles, ewww.

i wished i could find jam that was cheeper than a 2 dollar jar. jam here is 4 or 5 bucks for a small jar, look at dollar stores but stay away from plastic, unless you like the taste of it

Well I could get 6 jars of cheapo jam for £4. 6 canning jars are £20. I know, not outrageously expensive, but I don't wanna spend money on glass jars. I think I'll just save my jars when I make spaghetti and whatnot. Well duh that'll work. Sometimes I totally miss the obvious.

I use the canning jars as well as ones for pasta sauce, if you throw them in the dishwasher it will eliminate the smell.
