It depends how big you want to grow them but I wouldn't top to soon. I usually top mine at the 5th node. This creates a nice bushy plant. I sometimes even top a 2nd time.

See we is nice people here :)

I top at 5th node to, just pinch out the new growth on the centre (FIM) I also do it to a few bigger branches 2 weeks before flower.

Pruning I'm against really, the plant will use leaves up as food if it needs to and also the leaves contain sugars and other goodness.

I just cut off the grow tip so it stops growing and the 2 branches on the sides will get bigger.

and i cut all fan leafs that were blocking light to the smaller ones.

alot of people say dont cut the leaves off but i do it anyway, if i didnt, my branches wouldnt be anywhere near that big

Its best to leave those big fan leaves until the end of flowering when they start to turn yellow because those are the main source for the plants food(clorophyl)

You are better off tying them back than cutting them off.

I cut off a few fan leafs out of like the first 5 that grow...Those wouldnt be there by the end of flowering anyways. more leafs will grow.
