Anybody ever played with one of these?

Anybody ever taken one of these lights apart or replaced the chips. A fello smoker told me you can use this frame and body, and put some Vero 18's in there. I'm wondering how difficult it would be and if it would really work...

for the work of retrofitting something you havent even bought yet just build from scratch on bar heatsinks and use a better driver
I hear ya. Unfortunately I just purchased it from amazon. I guess the goal is to make a $1000 light for only $300. Someone told me that they did it, and the Chinese drivers ran his Vero 18's going on 3 plus years now. Idk, I'm probably biting off more then i can chew.

well at best by the time you buy the extra chips etc you'll end up with a light worth $300-400 for a cost of... $300-$400

amazon has a great return policy, i would take advantage

The drivers are almost as important as the led. If you are starting with a cheap driver, you are starting with an 85% or less efficient driver. A quality driver runs 92% or better. You are losing 10% or more right off the bat. Also, there is nothing worse than having a crappy driver die on you 2 or 3 weeks before harvest.

20180224_141259.jpg 20180224_141933.jpg I have an actual 550 watt draw light that looks like that. I would say the cobs are spaced too close together. I think the way to go is with better quality components and buy a framework or kit. It will grow but other lights will grow better.

I would like to put a vero in each of the 4 corners and just run them :D Can that be done ?

Ask @morgwar how long his last and if the drivers broke down in the middle of a grow.

hey are you still using the anjeet cob led? I am thinking about buying one myself but am not 100% sure if the Citizen CLU048 1212 would fit in there (its what I am planning on using). Are your vero 18s still holding up?

Yep, I've run em 20 hrs in veg too for 3 grows bright as hell. Someone a long while back told me citizens would be more efficient and higher output.
Size wise they will fit the heatsinks with drilling and self tapping machine screws but the Vero 18 s don't line up perfect either.

5 grows total now, still sitting at 1175-1200 mah 39vlts on the fluke amp clamp
Built a couple for a buddies 5x5 on the cheap, and the citi 12/12s are a bit brighter. Its cheap and the custom cob/quantum guys hate em, but you'll pull hardcore yields if you're dialed in.
Lets see 125.00 anjeet 6 vero 18s at 9 bucks or 6 citi 12/12s at 10 bucks
Around 185 to 200 bucks for a solid 280 true watts of cob.
They could be spaced better but you could use the parts to install on a frame and
I'm no expert but the penetration is great. You wont find a cheaper better producing light.
(And yes I know watts aren't a good measure of cob output as I said I'm not an expert and take it or leave it because my forum flamefest days are done)

I will just sell it whole (cost me 700 canadian or 500 us roughly) I have a mars 48 too and maybe the 315 cmh and I will get Dan to send me a light. Quantum kit or 400 watt vero framework.

Maybe he will be nice and make me a framework for a quantum ::D

My vero light is the best light I have ever used. 2 x 100 in a tent and I am shocked by the efficiency and density of plant. And the plants love the light.

I love science and zeal is making LED work for those that it works for. For me it is optimal. Industrially I have no idea. Sorry for the digression. White Rhino coconut oil is the strongest i ever made and it just went BING.

1 tablespoon what?????

Peace out smoke if you got em

if its got the white 1200mah drivers and you swapped out for citi 12/12s that's a 400 watt light with a warranty on the drivers. For @280 bucks.
The only negative is the spacing.
If someone wants to get started growing and building lights on a budget its the best and easiest option.
I don't know but for what I've seen 280 bucks doesn't go far with the big name light companies.
