it was the episode on the Sahara Desert. truly amazing. it used to be a tropical forest. not to long ago either. the earth wobbles on it's axis. when it shifts, which it does a lot, the worlds climates change. i love these shows. :blsmoke:

No I didn't but I did watch an incredibly interesting program about yellowstone park being a massive volcano that is overdue to pop. That was quite amazing.

we get all caught up in our human drama and forget how insignificant we really are. truly an amazing place to live on. there were cave drawings in the middle of the desert of people swimming. they nearest water is 500 miles away. they did computer animation of what it looked like. crazy stuff.

I didn't catch the show but I did see a different show about that once. They even think that when the egyptians were building the pyramids there were lush forest's. Or somthing like that. I saw it a long time ago. It was interesting. The earths wobble is has a huge effect on the enviroment. The moon helps stabilize the wobble. Without the moon we would be screwed.

I Tivoed it and was gonna watch it tonight. The program description said "4 billion years ago a planet the size of Mars hit Earth and turned it from a barren wasteland into the planet we know now". I wasn't aware it was gonna cover the Earths axis wobbles, which is due to happen again on Dec. 21, 2012.

I was actually going to start a thread about this, or cover it in one of the prvious world history/future threads. I'm sure after I watch it i will be able to tie it into something already discussed here:twisted:

On another note I did watch a program about some caucasian mummies found in the middle of a desert in China that date back to the times before Marco Polo even ventured from the west into China....very interesting.

yea this stuff is interesting. I cant believe its due to turn again in 2012 thats nuts. wether or not this will happen who really knows lol.

I watched the show about the european mummies they found in China. One was dated back to 4000 B.C. The scientist that was at the dig said he hated to say this on T.V., but one of the mummies was carrying some marijuana. I couldnt believe it. A real old time hippy!!

I got a question! ohhhhh oh oh pick me.

mmk why exactly does the earth wobble on its axis? Off the top of your head can somebody just explain why?

It's not just spinning as it rotates around the sun. It is also turning on the diaganol axis that ends at the north and south poles. It is such a gradual wobble that it cannot be noticed until it has completely happened every 5000 years or so.

The main cause of the wobble is changing pressure at the oceans' bottoms.
