Any tips on getting a patient card?

Hey guys.

;)

I've been suffering from insomnia for quite some time now, and would like to legally obtain medical marijuana.

Has anyone done so successfully in Massachusetts? Are there any understanding accommodations or facilities I could visit in order to obtain a license to help me out?

Has anyone visited a run of the mill doctor with success? I've been out of the loop and haven't really looked into it.

Any additional information is invaluable!

PS: I don't want to grow or anything, I just want to be able to obtain for medicinal purposes, and am pleased that my medicinal rights aren't being infringed upon any longer.

I appreciate your valuable contributions and hope to hear back.

MMJ has been legal in Massachusetts for only 5 days, so there are a ton of unanswered questions. Right now 'insomnia' is under the grey area of " and other conditions as determined in writing by a qualifying patient’s physician". I doubt you will find any informative feedback yet, but I am interested to hear if anyone has gotten a recommendation yet.

Off the top of my head, there are only two facilities currently planning to open focusing on marijuana referrals, Cannamed and Integr8

I appreciate your expedient resolve!

This early in the game there seems to be a lack of information, but thanks for the resources you've provided.

;)

I have not had an appointment with cannamed. Though I believe I read that if you dont qualify for your card than you dont have to pay. What is your condition that you are applying for your card? I would love to know how it goes and what the condition was and if you get approved.

I appreciate the feedback guys.

I was curious to see how much the cost is if indeed the physician deems your ailment worthy of a marijuana card?

I wonder if bluecross would cover the costs of the medicine?

:D

Keep the information going guys!

We're all in this together; fighting for our medicinal rights.

Stay cool

I don't think it is covered by Medical insurance. I would bet my life on it. And At CannaMed It costs $199 to get a reccomendation and they give you a high quality photo id. Then you have to go back for a checkup every year and renew it. Which costs $199 for renewal as well.

Bde0001, What did you mean by recommendation? Cannamed does not dispense prescriptions? Or med cards? I know they are not a dispensary but exactly what do you walk out the door with, and what ones it entitle you to?

You walk out with a doctors note stating that you have been seen my a licensed physician who has reviewed your medical history and believes the medicinal use of marijuana may better serve in the treatment of you ailment rather than conventional medications per the rules and regulations currently legal in the state of MA.as of January 1, 2013 .Nothing more. No photo id. This is how false information starts to get circulated.

Lol False information? Everything I stated was correct. If you dont believe me, take it directly from cannamed themselves.... http://www.cannamed.com/blog/CannaMed

Read step 4 ....photo id :)

and masshole, cannamed issues you a doctors reccommendation if you qualify. When massachusetts finally works out everything than you will send your reccommendation and application to the dph and you should recieve your medical mj card from them. But until everything is worked out, You can grow/possess a reasonable amount considered a 60 day supply with just your doctors reccommendation without even getting your card. Only until the first dispensary opens/ all rules and guidlines are written.

I got my MMP card for another state through my MA physician. My advice is to be very open during your visit and put your damn foot down; it's your physician's job to help you! Keep it concise. Tell them, you want the forms signed (MA may not have forms yet so make your own or find one). Bring the forms. Tell them about your MJ use and how it helps you (feel free to say 1g/day if you really smoke all day err'day). And tell them that you simply don't want to be prosecuted for something that helps you. If you google the subject you'll find much better information than I'll provide on my ipad lol, tired thumbs! Good Luck All!!

I have an appointment on the first and that is less than a week away I do you mean to tell me that this is only a recommendation? and the local law states that I can grow a 60 day supply for myself until everything is all settled? personal and I speak for everyone on here that this is just an infringement on our rights and not even a right but we try to seek our own care and put it in our own hands where it could be safest and everyone wants to dictate what we can and cannot do you even if we're not hurting other people. Im prescribed a handfull of pills that supposedly help me get through the day but when side effects can be deadly that tends to scare me

here in RI, it takes about 2 months from application submission date to get the call to come down for the pic for your card but you are considered legal as soon as they cash your check which is usually about a week after u send it in

In Ma there are no state ID's. Only a letter from your doc until the state decides how they are going to handle things. But the letter is the all you need for now in MA

if you dont have too dont. get a set of locks at lowes for lower than the card and hide it.
But why?

You would seriiously rather be illegal than legal in a legalized state over petty money?

Really?

I simply cannot comprehend this logic.

Only thing I can think of is that I for one would like to get a license to carry for personal defense reasons. It's our second amendment right to bear arms.

If I get a rec and am on the books as a cannabis user with the dept of health I can forget about getting my gun license. They do a really thorough backround check and I bet it would come up.
