Any thoughts on 50w and 100w led chips ?

Do bridgelux do the dual spec led chips in 50w or 100w ? how much are they I`m going to need to make 6 units I was thinking to go with the 48w epistars to save money I mean after all I just need to get as much of that 48w onto the plant as I can I a bit of cfl side lighting should take care of anything the one beam misses right ?

Well. One 85W white LED is good for 1 plant up to about 4ft. It cost me £50 per LED. They don't do dual spec, but they do two types of white LED. I bought one of each to cover both ends of the light spectrum, but they do smaller ones too, so maybe 2 x 50W would suit a very small grow.

If you aren't going to put your plants inside a reflective grow space then you may need side lighting, but a lens on the front of the LED would probably fix that pretty well.

I`m going to go with the red and blue or red and uv chips I wanted a single led as it cuts down on other components so the unit can be small and simple, also the heat sink is mega expensive at £25 so I think I`m just going to use 1 50w or 1 100w led per light each plant will get one light so I need to find money and build 6 buy the end

I think that red and uv will do the job for flowering but 48w per plant even if there only going to grow to 50 to 80cm is still not a lot of power but the LED will be getting driven to 48w so each light will be using around 55 to 60watt`s in total

My total draw will be around 350 to 400watt for 6 plants I`d love to be pulling in even 1 watt per gram on that I`ll probabbly run another 200 to 400w of cfl so the plants bush out so really I just need enought led to get a nice spot of light over the whole plant.

Just need to find the cash and wait for the bits to show up now

Well in the mean time I have the 2 red 50w leds and psu`s and stuff I ordered the other day so I have something to do, tbh all the space these 1w to 5w led panels take up and all the light that does not even go on the plant is starting to wind me up I mean I don`t need to pay money to light up the floor I want my light on the leaves that`s why a single led unit is so good because like a spotlight it can be aimed at the plant I want it to light

I was also thinking about making a ufo out of either 15w or 50w leds but I can`t afford that anytime soon having a job and being broke sucks, and there`s some skywalker kush seeds I really want but have no cash for too had to germ up my last batch of freebies but theres some nice stuff in there..
