Any idea if I have a problem here? Total newb

This guy is just two weeks old and he is living in a GH WaterFarm under a good amount of CF 6500k light. The temps are good and there is a fan gently blowing on it. Two questions, 1) is it looking ok or is there a problem on the horizon? 2) How do I know when to add more nutrient? I do not have a TDS meter yet (its on the way). Is there a rule of thumb about when to add more? Thanks in advance

looks like too much already, i would wait for the plant to stabilize and grow a bit then worry about nutes.

Yeah dude you're overfeeding. I can see salt buildup on that hydroton already and it is wet!!!(which obviously makes it harder to see the buildup)

I would flush that whole thing out medium and all with a good run of clearex. Then feed an extremely mild solution for the next couple weeks. If your using GH nutes as well do something like 5ml per gallon gro/micro/bloom until they start to recover from that nute burn.

Make sure you are keeping your PH in check as well. The plant almost looks like it is having PH issues on top of the nute burn.

Im so bummed. I followed what the GH chart said to do. Would it be fine if I just drained what is in there then filled back up with some good clean water then just do 5ml of the nutes? If I did have a TDS to measure my PPM, what would I want it to be at for this early stage. And finally......at what week will this plant no longer be considered young?

If you don't have clearex just run plain water w/ no nutes until the new growth starts looking normal. As for what your ppm should be at during this early stage....LOW, like maybe 400-600max. Not sure what you mean by no longer considered young? Are you asking when will it be mature enough to flower? It's debatable. You can flower at any time. But most suggest growing it out at least until preflowers show or the internodes become staggered. Waiting till the plant is mature will give you a better yield.

One other thing, always go light on the nutrients. It's way easier to add more than it is to correct overnuteing. If you're unsure, start at 1/2 the recommended amount and work your way up till you find the sweet spot.

have cleaned it all out and replaced with clean water with good ph. Thanks for all of the advice thus far. Is it a dumb question to ask how long a plant can survive on water alone?

I think we are back on the road to recovery. After letting it run with just clean water for a few days i introduced 5ml of floragrow and things are looking pretty good. Have no idea when to add more but maybe I will know if my tds meter ever gets here.

I guess I will use this thread to record my progress. Thanks everyone for your help thus far.

1) At what age can I determine the sex of the plant? I am currently at about 6 weeks. I have included a picture. I dont see any "balls", but I didn't know if it was too early or not.

2) I only have one plant right now but plan on making clones, i was thinking about doing 8. How big should this plant be before I do this?

3) Lastly, I have a 4x4 grow tent and a 1000 watt MH/HPS light. Is this too much? I am just using compact fluorecents right now because I am afraid that I might burn my house down. Any recommendations on ventilation/filtration would be gladly accepted.
