Well then, Mr gun owner, do something. Contact the NRA yourself or your Congressman to advocate for something you are OK with. You own this problem, not me. I assure you that there are anti-NRA movements out there, they are getting stronger and we will restrict your rights to own guns. I'd rather you gun owners figure out something that you prefer but if you don't, then we will just take draconian measures because we really don't care about your access to your penis surrogates. If you are OK with that then just wait and watch. It will happen and gun owners are going to cry bloody murder. By then it will be too late because the super majority will hold the whip hand.
No you won't. Your just another member of a whiney minority.

Joking aside, I don't think guns should be banned at all but there should be a waiting period of say 6 months? Gives plenty of time for background checks and for people to fuck up in the interim (automatically cancelling their application, non-refundable).

That's a little long. Most people can't plan that far ahead, besides it would ruin the "excitement" of the purchase.

Actually, about 65% of all US households don't have a gun. In 1970, it was less than 50% without a gun. At this time, the majority opinion favors keeping gun ownership laws the same but those numbers are slipping too. It's just a matter of time before a super majority forces lawmakers to begin to restrict gun ownership.

This is the 18th school shooting this year. The times, the sentiment and the facts are all against maintaining status quo on this topic much longer. There will be more restrictive gun laws in the future. Today's gun manufacturers and their lobby as well as their customers who buy these high power, high rate of fire weapons have themselves to blame.

I've given up on the idea that gun owners will come together and act to reduce deaths due to gun violence.

The NRA owns Congress. Mitch McConnell was paid 19 million, to look out for their organization and so were many other legislative personnel. It would be almost impossible to impose gun control.

This country needs that to happen, but I don't think it's possible . That's why Conservative Gun Nuts screaming President Obama was going to take them was ridiculous .
