Another NEWBI : )

Hi their. First time grower here. Ive been flipped thourgh a bunch of differnt growing forums and thought I'd try you guys out .
My quesiton is, what light would be best for my set up. 2-4 plants (Papaya), in a closet 5'x2'x9'tall. I plan on doing 4 until it gets crowded, than take 2 outside and keep the better 2 inside. And when it comes to floweirng, should I swtich to a differnt bulb, or is their 1 that works both ways. And if so, would I get a better yeild AND quality if I went with 2 different bulbs (1 veg and 1 flowering)?
Im gussing i should get a roll of that mylar paper for the walls. I have fan already. I got to get some type of exhaust fan though to get rid of the extra heat at the top of the closest, and hopefuly cool down the ligth system. Or do I?? What soil would be good. I have right now some 3-1 Spaghnum PeatMoss and Perlite mix. Is that good enough?? Than add nutes after about 4 set of leaves appear? Than the water situation. Im sure water from tap could work, but would it be BETTER if I bought spring or distilled water or whatever. At a $1 a gallon or so, Im not to worried about the cost. IM sure ive got about a million other questions, but these few should get me started for now : )

Ok so first off ur gonna wanna know what ur budget is for this growop, if money isnt really of concern for u then then u could deffinatly go with a MH/HPS lamp, u could probobly pull off a 400W in an area like that... Usually MH is for Vegg and HPS is for Flowering... If ur tight on money just buy the HPS but if not the deffinatly get both as u will get a noticable difference with yelif size ad quality. If ur really tight on cash u can alway do a CFL grow, they are very cheap and can do just as good a job as a HPS if u know how to do it... AS far as ventilation, with a HID lamp in a space that size ur gonna want a decent amount of air flow in there as it will get hot fast.

Is this a good kit or is JUNK? I am on a type of budget but nothing too serious. And I dont wana be cheap about it either.
As far as air flow, would keeping the closest door open with a fan on (during the day) and the door closed with the fan on (during night) be enough? "when I say night, i dont mean i turn off lights, just have to shut the door so the light does go out my bedroom windows alerting the fuzz at night.
And if need be I could add a second fan high up in the closest to circulate air up their and maybe keep the light cooler also.

Is my soil choice good or adaquate. And what about my water options? Should I invest in a $10 PH/mostiure/? meter for the soil?

I would work out ur venting problems before u start this out, leaving the door open all the time is what u would probobly have to do unless u have some sort of internal exhaust fan in there. and another very big problem i already see coming along is going to be smell, im not sure if ur living in a house by urself or an appartment but when u flower ur entire place is going to absolutly reek of pot if ur leaving that door open and fanning it out like that.

I live in a two story house with 2 peopl who wont care about the growing as the house smells like pot all the time anyways
I will definitaly get the exhaust system together beofre this light every gets turned on. Im thinking a small 6in fan hooked to some of that 6" dryer duct stuff and vent it either into my walls (via a cubby hole) or just into my room than out the window. Im not worried about the smell just worried about fire hazards of any sort. I dont know if it will work good, great or shitty. BUt a thermomater will let me know whats going on. Let me know if I need to turn the fan up more or down some. Or get a larger fan.

But what do you think about the kit I linked to you to on ebay. Is it a good kit and worht the cash. Seems a fair price. I would like to get it so I know its on its way. The exhaust stff I shold be able to get at any local Lowes or Home Depot Im guessing.

First off, welcome to the site. I have the EXACT setup that you have to deal with. I am growing Papayas in a closet that is 2x5x9. I have 3 female almost ready to cut right now. I have the closet divided in 2 with a 400w mh for veg and a 400w hps for flower. Click on the link at the bottom of my post and see my journal. Let me if you have any issues and I have probably ran into the same. you will need exhaust to control heat for sure. I have an attic that I cut into and run my duct up through. If you go with an HID light you will need the same. good luck. Oh and it looks like a pretty good deal on the light.

Just fliped through most of your grow. Looks BEAUTIFUL. I could only dream mine turn out half that good. Seems like you and Kevin are the 2 i should probably talk to about this. Since you are both growing the same stuff right now. But Ill probably talk to you more. Since you seem to have the same situation as me. I will look into cuting a hole in the ceiling of my closet for the exhaust to go into the attic. Our attic (I belive) is just a bunch of runners with fiberglass in between for a floor. so it will tricky to move around up their. But alright, I think I am going to go ahead and buy the HPS light kit that i have likned to ebay. It says their are more than 10, so I wasnt worried about someone seeing it and buying it before me.
Also Douche Nozzle, do you mind I contact you through PMs? So contact between us could be alittle quicker. I will still start a thread once I get everything set-up.

Feel free to PM. Kevin and I have been going back and forth about our grows and it works nice. I have even thought about finding more papaya growers and keeping in touch. Papayas are a tough plant that stays short and the buds are greasy as hell. I am sticking with those now.
