Amount of space needed for each plant?

Ill be building a wooden box to grow my plants in but I need to know how much space is needed for each plant. I will be growing 1, maybe 2 plants, so how wide should I make my box for an average sized plant?

I think you'll have some disagreement as to what is an "average size plant". With a range of 18" to over ten feet tall, how big you wanna go?

for a 3 feet tall plant you would need a cab around 6 feet tall.
a feet for the pot, a feet from the canopy and a feet for the vent, electricity, hood etc.

as for the width and depth, its up to you.
You could do a scrog and extend this 3 feet tall plant to as wide as you want.
For "natural" growth (no training) with an avarage strain you would need about 1.5x1.5 feet of depthxwidth.

If you'll tell us what strains your looking at and what light we could help more.

if you use CFLs getting a meter high plant would requier side lightning = more space.
If you use a HID light of 250 and higher you would be better going for a 2 feet plant with height managment to use all the light efficiently.

1 square foot per plant at 3 feet tall. I'd give it 2 extra inches all the way around to help light penetrate as this is a formula for a larger garden. How much light are you gonna use? It's gotta be strong enough to be useful at 3+ feet. I'd be thinking about a couple of t5 panels on either side of your box.
